'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Episode 1 Air Date, Cast & Spoilers: Meet Show's Newest Faces!

HBO's "Game of Thrones" will premiere its fifth season in just a little over a week, and for fans of the series who know that there will be more interesting characters to meet (and potentially let go), here are the new faces you're going to see more of this season:

Prince Doran Martell

Following the trend with Pedro Pascal as Oberlyn, the producers for "Game of Thrones" decided to cast yet another Latino actor for the prince of Doran Martell, (Alexander Siddig) the fifty-something prince is a recluse who looks to rule wisely. According to the Science Fiction website, this means that he is not looking to take any action against the Lannisters to maintain the peace, considering that his son, Trystane, is set to marry Myrcella Baratheon, and he wants to maintain the peace of the kingdoms.

The Sand Snakes

Following the very brutal death of Oberlyn Martell, his first three illegitimate daughters are out for vengeance. The Sand Snakes (in Dorne where they live, illegitimate children are named Sand) wield signature weapons that make them beautiful but deadly. Oberlyn's daughters Obara Sand (Keisha Castle-Hughes), Tyene Sand, (Rosabell Laurenti Sellers) and Nymeria Sand (Jessica Henwick) are forces to be reckoned with. According to the International Business Times, when the sisters are introduced in season five, they will waste no time with pleasantries and go on right to plotting their revenge on the Lannisters to avenge the death of their father.

Myrcella Baratheon

If you could remember Robert Baratheon's youngest daughter from the earlier seasons, make no mistake that she has grown up to be quite the young lady betrothed to a Dorne heir. According to the New York Times, a more grown-up version of Myrcella is played by Nell Tiger Free, and she's going to have a more prominent role now than the fleeting scenes she previously appeared in. It has also been noted that due to the death of Oberyn, the relationship between the Martells and the Lannisters have become shaky, which also drastically weakened her position at Dorne.

Trystane Martell

Played by Toby Sebastian, Trystane Martell is heir to the kingdom of Dorne and Myrcella Baratheon's betrothed, as a pact have been made in earlier seasons between Prince Doran and then-hand of the king, Tywin Lannister. With Jon Snow still stuck North of the Wall and Robb Stark long dead, Metro UK notes that Trystane could be the new heartthrob in the series. Of course, because it is "Game of Thrones," nobody should expect his character to have a long life on the series either.

The High Sparrow

Jonathan Pryce joins the cast as the High Sparrow, a religious extremist who will be going head to head with Cersei Lannister as he tries to shift the power in Westeros to his army of sparrows. Although it is unclear how much airtime he'll get, his sinister character is one to watch and watch out for in the upcoming season.

"Game of Thrones" season 5 airs April 12 on HBO.
