'A.D. The Bible Continues' Cast, Trailer & Premiere: Juan Pablo Di Pace Speaks on His New 'Hot Jesus' Title
Juan Pablo Di Pace's upcoming portrayal of Jesus Christ on NBC's miniseries "A.D. The Bible Continues" has led the actor to be dubbed as the new "Hot Jesus." The series, which is a sequel to the network's "The Bible," will premiere on April 5 at 8 PM. Speaking to E! News about his role, Di Pace addressed the outpouring of praises regarding his new title, which was previously held by Diego Morgado.
"I don't feel the pressure. To me, it cheapens my experience of the role," the Argentinean actor told E! News. "It just means so much to me. That's flattering, that's great, thank you very much."
When asked how he reacted when he got the significant role, Di Pace shared, "Not one second in my whole life I thought I'd be ready to play this part. It wasn't in my plans. So when I actually got the call, I was like, oh, now I have to really get into this. It was daunting and amazing. It was life-changing."
The 35-year-old actor also explained that the series will pick up at the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the inspiring events that transpired after, according to 12 News. Di Pace admits that shooting that particular chapter of Biblical history was not an easy feat.
"It was very hard. It was jumping at the deep end from the very beginning," the actor further told the news outlet. "So I had to get myself into that mode really quickly and there's no research in the whole world you can do to prepare you for a crucifixion-least of all, a Christ crucifixion. So I think a lot of that work was internalizing what that meant for me to be in that moment and to be in the shoes and make it as simple as I could, as human as I could."
The series is executive produced by real life couple Mark Burnett and Roma Downey of "The Bible," 12 News wrote. Downey shared that the first episode of the show will also bring to light how Jesus' disciples moved forward after his death, and how the early church grew, Cross Map noted.
"We had hoped that we had more hours with 'The Bible' Series. We only had 10 hours to bring the whole Bible to television. 'A.D. The Bible Continues' is our new series which will premiere on NBC on Easter Sunday gives us a chance to take a deeper dive into the book of Acts," she told Cross Map.
Burnett, who was behind other popular shows such as "The Voice" and "Survivor," said that the series is "a great way to spread the story of Acts," the news outlet wrote.
