Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather 2015 News, Tickets & Predictions: 'The Money' Much Smarter?
It's almost down to just a month before the megafight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. takes place at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada; and people, including boxers themselves, have made their predictions on who will emerge as the better fighter between the two.
For British boxer Amir Khan, Mayweather is the clear winner because of the way the undefeated American fighter thinks.
"He (Mayweather) will be much smarter and he'll pick his shots a little bit better," Khan was quoted by Sporting News as saying. The British boxer with a 30-3 professional record used to train with Pacquiao at the Wild Card gym in Los Angeles.
Khan also explained that fans should expect Mayweather to make the fight "a little boring" despite Pacman's expected come-forward and aggressive attacks.
"But Mayweather will try to avoid all those punches and just maybe throw that one shot that will count and then move away again. But time will tell," he added.
The boxer also said in a Sky Sports report that based from how Mayweather trains (as seen on his social media accounts), "Money" has prepared a different gameplan which the public has not seen before.
"He might put pressure on Manny Pacquiao to show that 'look your pressure does not work against me' so it's going to be a good fight to see. But I favor Mayweather more because his style suits Manny Pacquiao," Khan explained.
As for Pacquiao's chances, the English fighter said he should also put pressure on Mayweather "having that in-and-out movement and hopefully looking for that one big shot."
Khan advised Pacman to get to the American fighter with his speed. "Get Mayweather a little bit riled, get rough with him in there, push him around a little bit and throw them big powerful shots."
Speaking to Sky Sports, the 28-year-old former lightweight champion said that he expects the match to be a great one despite it being long-delayed. "I think five years ago it would have been ever better because they were both at their peak and it was a fight that everyone was dying to see," Khan added.
The "fight of the century" has long been awaited not only by the boxing industry but by the entire world as well. Both boxers have been rumored to go against each other for the past years but plans only materialized late last year.
It has also been tagged as the richest fight in boxing industry with Business Insider reporting that tickets are sold from $1,500 to $7,500. With these figures, the match will rake about $74 million from the sale of 15,000 tickets alone.
Top Rank CEO and Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum said in the Business Insider article that the anticipation to the fight is "crazy but amazing."
