iPhone 5s vs. Samsung Galaxy S4 Sales in Japan: Apple Inc. (AAPL) iPhone 5s, 5c Outselling Galaxy S4 in Latest Weekly Sales, Says BCN [Video]
Apple Inc.'s iPhone 5s is proving to be popular in Japan as the iOS device dominated sales charts among the country's three major carriers.
The iPhone 5s placed in seven of the top 10 spots on the weekly sales rankings provided by Japan's BCN.
The top spot went to the iPhone 5s' 32GB model from mobile carrier SoftBank, followed by the 32GB model from NTT DoCoMo, and the same internal storage model from carrier au/KDDI rounding the top three.
The iPhone 5c secured two spots, fifth and sixth places, for its 16GB model from SoftBank and au/KDDI, respectively.
The remaining spots went to the iPhone 5s, ranging between the 16GB and 64GB models.
Apple, however, did not hold the 10th position as it went to a low-end Chinese device by ZTE.
As Apple Insider noted, Apple secured 12 spots of the top 20 slots BCN provided. Samsung was able to hold one spot. The top-selling Samsung device was the Galaxy S4, which placed at 16 behind two 64GB iPhone 5s models from au/KDDI and NTT DoCoMo.
The sales for the iPhone 5s were beneficial for carrier NTT DoCoMo, which originally declined to sell any of Apple's iPhones due to disputes over pre-installed apps. NTT DoCoMo encountered a loss of 3.2 million users within the last five years allegedly for not carrying the iPhone. The Japanese mobile carrier finally began to sell the iPhone this year and has done well as it held two spots in BCN's top 10 weekly sales chart.
The features for the iPhone 5s inclyde the 4-inch Retina Display with 1,136x640 resolution, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, 1080p HD video recording camera, to name a few. The iPhone 5s, however, features a larger f/2.2 aperture for the rear-facing camera with the aim of improving low-light photography. The iPhone 5s utilizes the A7 processor chip with 64-bit architecture, which plays a critical role with the Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
