Robin Thicke & Paula Patton Divorce Details Finalized: Who Gets Child Custody?
Robin Thicke has a lot of court dates recently. After being charged guilty of copyright infiringement for his hit single, "Blurred Lines" with Pharell Williams, the singer and his estranged wife, Paula Patton, have been granted a divorce on March 17, less than six months after the actress filed the case due to "irreconcilable differences."
Yahoo! reported that Patton accused Thicke of infidelity, and two months later, in April 2014, he seemed to have hinted that there's truth in the accusation, saying in his deposition that one of the reasons why they separated was his lack of honesty and lack of sobriety.
According to E! News, the ex couple were high school sweethearts and were married for almost nine years before their separation in February 2014.
Back then, the couple said in a joint statement, "We will always love each other and be best friends; however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time."
Following the split, Patton shied away from the limelight, but she did appear on "Good Morning America" and opened up about her life after the breakup. She told host Robin Roberts, "I'm doing really well. I mean, the honest truth is it has been challenging, but it's been a year of growth, lots of healing, learning about all new things, but I've come out of it stronger."
Thicke, on the other hand, was more public about his desire to win her back, dedicating his most recent album, "Paula" to the 39-year-old actress. While promoting his album (which turned out to be a flop) in July, Thicke said, "When you lose the love of your life, you don't have much to hide anymore."
With the divorce finalized, the terms as to their son's living arrangements have not been made available to the public. However, the Los Angeles Times reported that Thicke initially sought for joint legal and physical custody of their son.
TMZ noted that there's an indication that Patton may be getting primary custody of Julian, but the specifics have not been spelled out. They seem to still share custody of the child however, and among the other stipulations in their divorce agreement seem to include spousal and child support, but no confirmation has been made.
The couple will officially be divorced on April 14, according to E! News.
Do you think they're going to share custody of Julian, or will Paula want to have sole custody of their son?
