iPhone 7 Release Date, Specs, Features & Price: 5.5-Inch Phablet Out in 2016 [Rumors]

By Staff| Mar 17, 2015

The iPhone 7 almost sounds like a digital revolution, if reports are to be believed.

Previously, it's been said that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) looks to halve its smartphone cycle year, giving the market two iPhones in an annual basis. However, in a recent article, ValueWalk cites reports, which claimed that the iPhone 7 will not see the public until next year.

What the Cupertino giant offers in the coming months remains to be an interesting question. If we are to look at other Apple devices, word is everywhere about the iPad Pro (aka iPad Air Plus), iPad Air 3, iPad Mini 4 and the sixth-generation iPod touch. While these devices are just as speculated, consumers, for instance, may not be expecting two or three iPad Minis launched in a single year.

The iPhone presents a different scenario. Others may have been surprised when the company unveiled the iPhone 6 with an iPhone 6 Plus back in September. This makes it even harder to predict what the next iPhone will be -- does it reestablish, refresh, or revolutionize?

In case you haven't heard, the arrival of an iPhone 6s has been doubted, though recent reports appear to mold the device once and for all.

ValueWalk says the iPhone 6s is pegged to sport Apple's newest technology, the Force Touch, and will be launched "later this year [2015]."

As iPhone 6 units spend more time in the limelight, Apple's lack of word is one thing to understand. Details of a recently-published patent seem to refer to a waterproof iPhone in-the-making, and this is one of the closest things speculations got at this point.

But whether all applied patents are done in every company's headquarters, we're not so sure.

Macworld predicts that the iPhone 7 will be a new phablet based on the iPhone 6 Plus, hence giving it a 5.5-inch display. This is best taken with a pinch of salt, but considering the seemingly-growing trend on bigger displays, we either have to raise some eyebrows or nod in agreement, at least for now.

Interesting notes on the iPhone 7 include a bezel-free screen, a sapphire screen-alternative, sidewall displays, a DSLR-like camera, 64 GB starting storage and wireless charging support.

As for the iPhone 6s, Design & Trend seems certain, "Apple always moves upward so one can expect better specs than the previous iPhone 6 and 6 Plus."

The outlet speculates the inclusion of a "better" camera, 2 GB of RAM and an A9 processor.

TechRadar predicts that the iPhone 7 may sell for at least $649.

If these rumors were true, do you think it's wise for Apple to skip the iPhone 7 in 2015? Sound off in the comments section.
