'Beauty & the Beast' Live Movie Cast News & Update: Beast, Gaston & Le Fou Roles Announced

After it has been confirmed weeks ago that "Harry Potter" alum Emma Watson will be the "beauty" in Guillermo Del Toro's version of "Beauty and the Beast," many Disney fans rejoiced. Now, several actors who will join Watson in bringing some of Disney's well-loved characters to life on the live-action movie have just been revealed.

Emma won't be doing a one-woman play, and more of the cast members of the beloved fairy-tale has been announced, and it's looking great.

Dan Stevens as The Beast / Prince Adam

We probably won't be seeing his good looks for most of the film, but according to Cinema Blend, Dan Stevens is a former "Downton Abbey" star, with the potential of becoming a household name with the role. At six feet even, he is not the "horrible, monstrous Beast" that Maurice described in Disney's animated show, nor is he as big and hunky as the Prince at the end, but with movie makeup magic (and CGI) anything can be possible.

Stevens also has other projects lined up, including "Criminal Activities" with John Travolta and "Oppenheimer Strategies" with Richard Gere and Steve Buscemi.

Luke Evans as Gaston

"The Hobbit" actor is not as burly and brawny as the animated version, and he certainly does not have biceps to spare, but Cinema Blend noted that Evans has enough experience to play a pathological role as evidenced by his characters in "Fast & Furious 6" and "Dracula Untold".

The new interpretation of "Beauty and the Beast" could cast Evans as the main villain of the film, and it's going to be interesting how intimidating specimen will be translated in the live-action version.

Josh Gad as Lefou

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the voice behind the incredibly adorable Olaf from Disney's "Frozen" is going to play another sidekick, but this time, of the villain's. Josh Gad is set to play Lefou, an opportunity that will showcase his acting talents as opposed to the voice work he usually does. However, it has been noted that with Gad not particularly keen on deeply dramatic work, it seems that the tone of the live-action version will not be dark and gritty, however, that still remains to be seen.

Disney's live-action "Beauty and the Beast" is going to be directed by Bill Condon and produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. Very few details have been released, but with casting slowly being revealed, more updates should be coming up soon.

Which actors would you want to play you favorite characters from the 1991 Academy Award-winning animation?
