iPad Mini 4 Release Date, Specs & Price: Faster Internet Browsing? 5G Wi-Fi Tipped [Rumors]

Apple Inc.'s (NASDAQ:AAPL) device users may be die-hard fans of the brand, but when the company unveiled a "refreshed" iPad Mini at last year's event, they were largely disappointed with the lack of changes from the gadget.

However, it seems that the company is eager to introduce the iPad Mini 4, which is said to bring about the A8 processor and 802.11 ac Wi-Fi that makes it faster for Internet browsing.

As noted by CNet, the technology allegedly in the new iPad Mini is the 802.11 ac Wi-Fi standard, which was first introduced in 2012 and is the new standard that can be found in most routers and offers up to 1733 Mbps of wireless Internet connection on a 5Ghz frequency band. It usually comes with a Wireless-N (802.11n) to support other Wi-Fi clients, made for a better internet experience.

In a rumor, as noted by Uber Gizmo, it is said that the iPad Mini 4 will be announced soon with the upgraded components that are found on the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. And while the only addition made to the iPad Mini 3 was a fingerprint ID sensor, the technology is expected to still appear for the fourth generation.

Many were disappointed about the release of the iPad Mini 3, considering that it was sold for $399 last year, while the iPad Mini 2 was sold at $100 less than that amount with their only difference being the fingerprint sensor, which most didn't think was worth the extra handout.

Short cycles per generation are not unheard of from the company. For instance, Mac Rumors pointed out that the 9.7-inch iPad only had a seven-month interval before the release of its third generation, and then shifting to the fourth generation model in the late part of the year.

However, the company has not officially confirmed the iPad Mini 4 yet, but more information is expected to be revealed at the Apple event scheduled for March 9.

Reports suggest that the Apple Watch will be the focus of the "Spring Forward" event to be held in San Francisco. However, it is expected that there may be an announcement for the MacBook Air as well as updates for the new iPad.

Do you think there is truth to the rumors about the iPad 4 upgrades, and if there is, would the A8 processor and 802.11 ac Wi-Fi connection be enough to nudge you into buying the latest gadget from the Cupertino giant?
