Android L 5.1 Release Date & Download: Update Rolls Out 'This Week' on Moto G
The newest Andoid L 5.1 could be rolled out this week on Moto G devices, 9to5Google reported.
Artem Russakovskii's "solid sources" confirmed that the roll out should come before the week ends. It was also reported that the new Android has already been silently rolled out this month.
Russakovskii said the update will start on Nexus devices, including the Nexus 7. The update is expected to improve the "Android battery" and make it "smooth again."
9to5Google, in another article, also reported that the new update will provide better WiFi and Bluetooth toggles. It should also have "interesting new clock animations" and color assignments for dual-sim smartphones.
However, it seems that Nexus devices are not the only ones getting the update, as the Android L 5.1 OS is allegedly spotted on a Moto G device.
A Damian Junior posted on Google Plus saying he has seen the new update. He has posted a couple of pictures showing the new Android L 5.1 on the Moto G device.
"Today my friend, who works at Motorola, sent me these photos in the morning and said they are already testing the update 5.1.0 for the XT1033 [Moto G], he said, he already received your smartphone with android 5.1.0 of the company, it practically confirms that Motorola will update the Moto G (first generation) and his superiors to 5.1.0."
Damian Junior added, "He also said that this very good upgrade and has no bugs, he commented be thinking about upload the image to the users, but the 'number of the version' is unique for each 5.1.0 tester like it, he can not post this because there could be complications for him, if the company found out, then asked me to postasse information and here they are! [sic]"
There are no comments from Google regarding this leak.
It was just last month when Indonesia and the Philippines got the Android 5.1 Lollipop update on HTC devices. Another HTC Official also tweeted about the maintenance release on Android L 5.1 and said that this will arrive in March.
Moto G (first generation) is just one of Motorola's new smartphones for the year. It has a 4.5" HD screen display that offers bright colors. It houses a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon and has a high battery life capacity, according to Motorola.
It has 8GB internal storage and can support external memory for up to 32 GB. It was originally sold for $220 but Best Buy has a temporary sale of $180, according to GSM Arena.
