According to AdDuplex, the Lumia 521 held 22.8 percent of the overall Windows Phone device market share in the U.S.
The Lumia 521, however, is not the top Windows Phone device in the world. As Latino Post reported, the Lumia 520 was named the top Windows Phone device worldwide with 26.5 percent in both overall Windows Phone devices and Windows Phone 8 gadgets with 35.3 percent.
In the U.S., the Lumia 521 managed to comfortably defeat its fellow competitors that were mainly fellow Nokia Lumia smartphones and the Huawei Ascend W1.
"Lumia 521 is a breakaway hit again and Lumia 520 has grown too. So, if we combine these two, the situation is pretty close to what we see worldwide," wrote AdDuplex's Alan Mendelevich.

Rounding up the top five, the popular Lumia 520 emerged. The Lumia 520 represented 7.2 percent of the market share.
The Huawei Ascend W1, the second non-Nokia Lumia smartphone to appear on the U.S. Windows Phone device ranks, finished at ninth place, or 2.7 percent of the market share.
