Nintendo Wii U ‘Kirby & The Rainbow Curse’ Download, Gameplay & Trailer: Title Will Make You Cry? Find Out Why!
Kirby may not be as popular as Mario or Donkey Kong, but the bubblegum-pink, puffy hero is back, and looking cuter than ever. Don't mistake all the fluff for child's play, though, because he inhale his foes in... literally.
Kirby, according to Hero Complex, was introduced in the early '90s as an experimental shape-shifter who has the ability to inhale large foes. There was also a time when the pink ball can turn into a rocket, and apparently, at some point, he was merely a piece of yarn.
In the new game, "Kirby and the Rainbow Curse," however, Kirby still looks as cute as ever, but the puffy little creature is transformed to clay and can roll through side-scrolling worlds with the help of the player's stylus. Every move of the pen will help create a rainbow-colored rope that can help Kirby the way you could direct any digital creature to do your bidding, except that because this is a game with monsters, you have to look out for ghosts.
The early stages are easy enough, but as the game progresses, players will have to carefully and strategically plan their lines and observe the world carefully to ensure that they can recuperate their powers later on.
The Washington Post noted that despite the title, Kirby is not a game for kids - although kids will no doubt want to play it because of the sheer Kirby cuteness. The game's difficulty will rapidly increase as the player progresses to higher levels, and in the end, the "cute" game will resort anyone to tears.
Then again, crying is part of the life of a gamer. As WP pointed out, "What would a platformer be without a little frustration?"
The game starts off with a cut scene that shows an artist stealing the colors from Kirby's world. To save planet Pop Star, the puffball teams up with a friendly paintbrush called Elline, and the game begins.
Here are some of the key features as published by Nintendo:
- Kirby comes to life in a world of clay that serves as a backdrop for his latest adventure
- Kirby can be controlled with a stroke of a stylus. Players will have to draw on the GamePad to guide him through the clay world.
- The Game Pad can be used to control Kirby's transformation in plenty of new and exciting ways,
