Premios TVyNovelas Nomination Process Manipulated? Jorge Salinas & Juan Osorio Speak Out
Jorge Salinas and Juan Osorio have both expressed their disappointment regarding Silvia Navarro's lack of nomination in Univision's Premios TVyNovelas.
During Osorio's appearance in the celebrity gossip program "Suelta La Sopa," Salinas and the Mexican television producer claim that the nomination process of the awards show was "manipulated," Latin Times reported.
The two also added that the award giving body's several inconsistencies include choosing the "pretty faces" as nominees instead of those actresses who really showcased great acting skills, such as Navarro, according to a translated report from Pulso.
Check out the clip below in which the two men discussed what they deemed unfair nominee selection of Premios TVyNovelas.
Osorio, who is not a part of this year's selection process, also remarked that the situation is very upsetting and that the producers have interfered with the nominee selection, Pulso noted. The awards show, which will air in March, is presented annually by Televisa and the magazine TVyNovelas to honor the best Mexican television productions.
Aside from the usual award categories, organizers of Premios TVyNovelas have created a different honor called "Favoritos Del Público" or "Audience Favorites," where fans can use social media "to vote for their winners." However, the awards that fans vote for will not be "broadcasted on television and fans will not get to see their winners take the accolade," a separate report from Latin Times noted.
Listed below are the telenovelas eligible for awards, as written by Latin Times. For more information, check out Premios TVyNovelas' website.
"El Color De La Pasión" (Roberto Gómez Fernández)
"La Gata" (Nathalie Lartilleux)
"Lo Que La Vida Me Robó" (Angelli Nesma)
"Por Siempre Mi Amor" (Ignacio Sada)
"Que Pobres Tan Ricos" (Rosy Ocampo)
"Quiero Amarte" (Carlos Moreno)
"Mi Corazón Es Tuyo" (Juan Osorio)
"Yo No Creo En Los Hombres" (Giselle Gonzalez)
"La Malquerida" (José Alberto Castro)
Navarro's highly successful Univision telenovela "Mi Corazón Es Tuyo," which also stars Salinas and Mayrín Villanueva, centered on the actress' character Ana Leal and her journey as the nanny of seven orphaned children, Latin Times noted. The drama ended recently on a happy note.
The 36-year-old actress also confirmed that she is pregnant with her first child with longtime boyfriend Gerardo Casanova, the news outlet added.
"It was never in my plans. I always said, 'if it happens, fine,' but that's how it is," Navarro said, as quoted by Latin Times. "A baby is always something good in your life, it's not something to plan but when it happens you tell yourself, 'it happened for a reason.'"
