Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Manny Pacquiao 2015 Ticket Price $100,000? [Rumors]
The upcoming fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May is believed to be one of the biggest in boxing history and some fans who want to watch the action ringside are even offering $100,000 each for a ticket, according to reports.
Top Rank CEO and Manny Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum said in an Inquisitr report that he has never seen a fight with such a high demand for tickets like the Pacquiao-Mayweather bout.
He noted that it could not even compare to the epic trilogy of Mohammad Ali and Joe Frazier.
"I've never seen anything like it. I mean maybe it's the fact that the 'one precent' has so much money, that money doesn't really mean anything. I've been offered for top ringside seats $100,000 a seat, I mean that seems to me to be crazy," Arum was quoted by Inquisitr as saying.
"I said, raise it to $200,000, you can have my seat," he added.
The Top Rank CEO also said that he's anticipating that the fight will have "the highest pay-per-view price ever," adding that it would not only break the 2.4 million record during Mayweather and Oscar Dela Hoya's fight in 2007 but will make about 4 to 5 million buys.
Boxing Scene said that despite tickets not yet released to the public, the demand has already been very high.
Even if they will be sold in very high prices, people with money to burn are seeing that it will be worth the purchase.
An earlier Forbes report said that fans have waited for about six years for this fight of the century which is "producing historical pricing levels for tickets" at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
Prices are reportedly expected to start at $1,000 while ringside tickets are to be sold at about $5,000.
"This will result in a total gate of around $40 million for the 16,800-seat MGM Grand Garden Arena," the Forbes article indicated, noting that this figure is twice the earnings of Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez's bout last year which was already considered a highly billed fight.
Some reports also said that even if tickets have already been made available to the general public, it would only be limited as a lot of people, including sponsors and promoters, want to reserve and purchase tickets for themselves.
Forbes added that tickets in the secondary market could be purchased online through sellers but people should expect that the price will be double its original one.
The same report indicated a prediction that the cheapest ticket will be sold at around $4,000 while the priciest is seen at $22,000.
With these soaring ticket prices, Inquisitr said that the undefeated American fighter will earn around $120 million while Pacquiao can go home with a projected $80 million based from the 60/40 split which the two camps agreed prior to the fight.
