Salma Hayek Named as the New Face of Milan’s Pomellato
Mexican actress Salma Hayek has been chosen as the new face of the prestigious Milanese jewelry brand Pomellato.
The campaign, which was shot by duo photographers Mert & Marcus or Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, was unveiled during this year's Milan Fashion Week, Latin Times reported.
"A Pomellato jewel has the power and character to improve a woman's personality," said the 48-year-old actress on the red carpet of the event, as quoted by Latin Times.
She continued, "Jewelry for me can be, if you're lucky enough, a map of your history. It doesn't have to be expensive; jewelry marks special moments in time. It speaks about the people that gave it to you, and when and why. When you're gone, again, if you're very fortunate and don't have to sell your jewelry, your jewelry can be left for the next generations."
To formally celebrate Hayek's collaboration with the jewelry brand, the Mexican beauty attended a cocktail event which sees her taking over from fellow actress Tilda Swinton as the jewelry brand's ambassador, Daily Mail wrote. The bash, which was hosted by Pomellato's chief executive officer Andrea Morante, celebrates Hayek as the guest of honor, it added.
"With Salma, Pomellato is living a new adventure and a beautiful transformation while remaining true to its origins," Morante said, in reference to Hayek's involvement in the prestigious brand, as quoted by Daily Mail. This serves as the "Everly" actress' return to Pomellato, given that she also participated in a charity project spearheaded by the brand in 1995 for the construction of a hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Hayek also praised Swinton's work in Pomellato. According to the actress, their differences prompted the jewelry brand to approach them both as its ambassadors.
"It's them who told me, 'You are also unique,' and you know what? I saw similarities," Hayek explained, as quoted by New York Times. "In the naked eye, maybe you see two people who cannot be more different, and then when you see the philosophy behind the brand, you can see there are a lot of similarities."
Pomellato is owned by the French luxury company Kering, which is controlled by the actress' billionaire husband François-Henri Pinault. The brand was founded in 1967 and is famous for their Nudo rings, which "feature a simply yet beautifully cut stone," the news outlet noted.
Hayek and her husband recently celebrated their six-year wedding anniversary on Valentine's Day, according to a separate report from Daily Mail. They have a seven-year-old daughter named Valentina, while Pinault has three children from previous relationships, one of which is a son with supermodel Linda Evangelista.
Hayek can next be seen in the Joe Lynch action thriller "Everly," Daily Mail wrote. The flick centers on the character of a former prostitute who is trying to save her own life from an ex-boyfriend who wants to kill her.
