In an interview on "The Meredith Vieira Show" on Tuesday, musical artist Marc Anthony opened up about things he hasn't shared with anyone before, with a special focus on his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez and his father's advice to him.

It is no doubt that J.Lo is one of the most prominent international artists of today. Whether it's singing, dancing, or acting in films, Lopez proved she can commit with them all. When the Hollywood entertainer ventured into the publishing business for her memoir "True Love," Anthony was with her every step of the way.

"I was proud of her. I know what it takes and I know her very, very well," he shared on the talk show, as quoted by E! News. "I just did everything in my power to be supportive of her."

Lopez and Anthony separated in July 2011 after being married to each other since 2004, PEOPLE wrote. They have 7-year-old twins named Max and Emme, who recently celebrated their birthday surrounded by family and close friends.

"I don't talk about it much as a whole; I just think that's private," Anthony said, referring to his divorce with the "On the Floor" singer, who has just gotten back together with 27-year-old dance choreographer Casper Smart. "I really do and I never have and I'm not sure I ever will. I don't think it's for public consumption. It's hard enough as it is," he added, as quoted by E! News.

Anthony also talked about how he landed on dating and marrying beautiful women, despite his doubts about his own sex appeal, Daily Mail noted. Aside from Lopez, he was also married to Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres from 2000-2004, to whom he have sons with named Ryan, 11, and Christian, 14. In November, he married 26-year-old model and 2005 Miss Earth Venezuela runner-up Shannon De Lima in an intimate ceremony.

"I'm just great at marketing," he joked in the interview.

Anthony also added that he didn't rely too much on his physical looks when it comes to courting women he's had a relationship with.

"My dad told me early on, 'Son, we're both ugly.' I swear to God, he says it to this day," the 46-year-old crooner quipped, recalling an advice his father often tells him. "He said you work on your personality. It builds character."

When asked by Vieira if this offends him, Anthony quickly said no, adding, "I was born looking at his face and he was right."

Lopez also admitted in her HBO documentary in January that "there's still love" between her and Anthony, as stated by a separate report from Daily Mail. "It says we've moved on and we're healthy...We took this journey and we're better. We survived," she explained.
