Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Manny Pacquiao 2015 Tickets & Pay Per View Price Staggering?
To watch one of the most awaited fights in boxing history, one has to pay the price, a huge one.
With Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao confirming that their showdown will surely happen on May 2 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, tickets are not only very expensive but also very hard to find.
Bleacher Report said that the high demand for tickets during the fight will not be reciprocated with the same number of tickets released or made readily available to the public.
Quoting ESPN's Dan Rafael, the same report said that just around 1,000 tickets will be released to the general audience. The most affordable tickets will reportedly cost around $1,000 and second buyers should expect pricier fight passes in the days to come.
On his Twitter page, ESPN's Scott Spreitzer said that people wanting to get ringside tickets to the megafight should have a credit line of $250,000 before MGM considers them for the purchase. A Daily Mail report noted that ringside seats are expected to be sold for $5,000 dollars and could cost around $20,000 in the black market.
Bleacher Report added that there has not been a set pay-per-view rate but sports analysts are looking at $89.95 as it will be a joint broadcast for HBO and Showtime.
Daily Mail, however, said that it could be higher than that, estimating it to be around $99.95 and making it the "richest fight" in boxing history.
The discussions regarding TV rights, on the other hand, is not only a problem in the United States as Daily Mail said there are also bidding wars in about 200 countries outside of the US. In the United Kingdom, for example, Sky, BT, BoxNation and ITV are all looking to get the broadcast rights for the bout.
This very expensive fight, which will reportedly give a combined purse amount of $250 million to both fighters, will rake a minimum $300 million income to about half a billion, sports and business analysts foresee.
Pacman and The Money only have about 10 weeks to promote the fight and surely more people will be encouraged to witness it not just in Las Vegas, but also in the comforts of their own homes.
Daily Mail said that fans can also opt to watch the fight at MGM properties which will stream the fight on large screens but entrance fees could also cost around $200. Aside from tickets, hotel rooms are also selling like hotcakes as MGM reportedly sold more than 5,000 of its rooms in 15 minutes after the fight was announced. This is despite the fact that the base rate for the rooms is $500.
Well, for people who waited for years just to witness this fight happen, no amount would be too big to watch history happen.
