'The Following' Season 2 Spoilers: Kevin Bacon's Ryan Finds New Enemies and a New Home
Season 1 of “The Following” ended on a tragic note. Ryan’s ex-girlfriend let jealousy get the best of her and viciously attacked Natalie Zea’s character Claire. Heading into Season 2, the memory will haunt Ryan, prompting him to leave his Brooklyn apartment to the faraway land of Upper West Side Manhattan.
“What happened to Claire is absolutely tragic and horrible,” said Kevin Bacon, who plays Ryan. “When you see the first episode of Season 2, you’ll see that Ryan has lost everything that he feels for and cares deeply about. It could not have gone worse.”
“Obviously, after the horror I experienced in that apartment, I felt the need to move,” Bacon told TVLine. His new place is on 82nd Street and Broadway. “It’s a good neighborhood. I run in the park,” he added. “I’m feeling fine.”
To fill the void resulting in Claire’s absence, two new characters are joining “The Following” cast. According to TheWrap, Sprague Grayden will join in a recurring role and Gregg Henry will make a guest appearance. Grayden will play Carrie Cooke, a tabloid reporter turned best-selling author who wrote on the Carroll/Havenport events and continues to investigate and report on the killings. Henry will come as Dr. Strauss, a distinguished doctor with a dark secret.
“The Following” will return for its second season with a special two-night premiere on Sunday, Jan. 19, and Monday, Jan. 20.
