‘Cinderella’ Live Movie 2015 Release Date, Cast & Trailer: Really Fake Waist? 5 Facts You Need to Know [Tickets]
Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo -- Cinderella's back and it's all true!
That's right! Fans of the beloved Disney classic will get to see "Cinderella" once more, and this time, Walt Disney Pictures is bound to give us a live action movie set to hit theaters on Mar. 13.
We'll be seeing the seven-minute prod that is "Frozen Fever" as well, but that's a different story.
Recently, the cast of "Cinderella" graced the Berlin Film Festival, where they walked the red carpet for the film's premiere.
Disney has also responded to allegations, which claimed that Lily James' (playing Cinderella) waist has been digitally-altered for the movie. In a dialogue with BuzzFeed, an unnamed Disney source explained, "Lily's waist hasn't been altered (in the film or in any stills / marketing materials) -- she's wearing a corset."
The information is supported by a rep from Lily's camp, the Daily Mail reported. Yet some people are still questioning the look, unconvinced that a corset isn't capable of doing the job.
Before "Cinderella" hits U.S. theaters, below are five things you probably didn't know about the Disney princess! Read on.
1. Cinderella's Origin
According to Flavorwire, "Cinderella" is based on Charles Perrault's 1697 fairy tale called "Cendrillon." As told by the outlet, Perrault made embellishments from the original European folktale by adding a number of iconic elements, such as the fairy godmother and glass slippers -- basically the magic of it all.
2. Something About Stepmother
Cinderella's stepmother is Lady Tremaine, biological mother of Anastasia and Drizella. In the 1950's Disney classic, the character was voiced by Eleanor Audley, Moviefone noted. Interestingly, she's the same person who lent her voice to Maleficent.
Lady Tremaine and Maleficent's look were intentionally inspired from Audley's appearance, the source said. If you're not quite convinced, click this, this and this.
3. The Name of "Prince Charming"
As it turns out, Cinderella's prince doesn't actually have a first name as it was not mentioned in the first movie. In fact, he may not be even "Prince Charming" at all, Flavorwire said. We wonder if the live movie gives him one.
4. Disney's Fairy Godmother?
According to Moviefone, Disney had $4 million in debt prior to 1950's "Cinderella." "Fantasia," "Pinocchio" and "Bambi," all appearing before "Cinderella," are cited to be expensive flops.
The source wrote that if "Cinderella" actually failed, the Disney company "would have bankrupted."
5. A Deleted Song
Flavorwire took note of a deleted scene from the 1950 film, which unfortunately, is a song called "Dancing on a Cloud." You can listen to it here.
Directed by Kenneth Branagh, "Cinderella" casts Lily James, Cate Blanchett, Richard Madden, Helena Bonham Carter, Nonso Anozie, Stellan Skarsgard, Sophie McShera, Holliday Grainger, Derek Jacobi, Ben Chaplin and Hayley Atwell, the Hollywood Reporter listed. Tickets are available here.
