iPad Air 3 Release Date, Specs & Features: Faster Tab Coming? [Rumors]

Apple surprised the world with its thinnest iPad yet, the iPad Air 2, back in October 2014. The device came with a seemingly impossible thickness of 6.1 mm, as well as a weight of 0.96 lb -- living up to the brand it bears.

This time, speculations aimed at its successor are louder than ever. Indeed, the iPad Air 3 has become a reality to some. Despite the fact that Apple has not confirmed any information about the device, buzz surrounding its existence are everywhere.

One of the most interesting details geared at the iPad Air 3 is its processor. Apparently, the device is touted to pack as A9X chip, The Bitbag reported. This is bound to marry 4 GB of RAM -- twice the size of its predecessor.

The iPad Air 2 came with a 64-bit A8X chip and M8 motion coprocessor.

From a general perspective, an addition of RAM (Random Access Memory) means an addition of space. This space is meant for operations, applications and data that will be running once the device (whether it's a smartphone, tablet or PC) is turned on. In essence, more RAM means better multitasking and smoother transitioning between softwares.

As we have previously noted, RAM doesn't run out of memory, but when "fatigued," it slows down. It's very much comparable to the human short-term memory.

In terms of display, Macworld is convinced that the iPad Air 3 will get a resolution boost. According to the outlet, it could be a pixel density of 401 ppi, the same amount packed in the iPhone 6 Plus.

The iPad Air 2 came with a 9.7-inch Retina display, housing a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels at 264 ppi.

As told by News Everyday, the new iPad could be launched in October, while the market gets it the following month. The source went on to predict that the device "might be overhauled completely."

On the other hand, some other reports believed that the tablet won't look very much different from its predecessor. LoadTheGame said the iPad Air 2 "feels more fragile," and that "it is easier to bend and break."

That said, the iPad Air lineup seems meant for people with good grip on delicate material. When you're holding the world's thinnest tablet yet, good handling will always be helpful.

The iPad Air 3 could arrive in Apple's standard trio of colors: silver, space grey and gold, Macworld wrote. The source listed some other desirable features such as face recognition, full Apple Pay, live multitasking, improved stylus suppor, audio improvements, memory card slot and wireless charging.
