Nick Young & Iggy Azalea News: NBA Star Nearly Killed by a Dolphin!
A particular dolphin now haunts the memory of Los Angeles Lakers star Nick Young as the baller claimed that the mammal almost ended his life about a year ago.
In a post-game interview on Tuesday, US Weekly said that Young opened up about the tweets of girlfriend rapper Iggy Azalea which revealed the dolphin incident.
Azalea said on Twitter that her boyfriend is "scared of dolphins" then later on explained why. "A dolphin in Cabo tried to kill him once. I was there and to be fair, it's true. Now he won't go on the wild dolphin snorkel tour. Lol."
Young shared in the interview that they were on a vacation in Mexico when a dolphin tried to kill him for some unknown reason.
"He was playing with everybody else, doing what dolphins do - the 'ack ack' and all that. It was my time to ride the dolphin. For some reason, he took me all the way to the bottom. He was trying to drown me. But I seen it happening so I jumped out of the water and took off the little life vest and threw off my little water shoes and stayed outside... He went straight down. He was trying to kill me," the Lakers player explained as he remembered the incident with the dolphin.
When asked why the dolphin particularly wanted to drown him instead of the other swimmers, Young said that the sea animal was "trying to take my woman" because apparently, the dolphin adored Iggy.
Young went about 25 feet below before he noticed that there was "something wrong," according to ESPN.
"I was more a little scared anyway. think it probably felt my fears. Plus, I was, like, the tallest guy there. It was me, [girlfriend Iggy Azalea] and like three or four kids. I felt like the odd guy out anyway," he told ESPN.
The Lakers shooting guard said that he did not receive any explanation from the people responsible for the dolphin encounter. "They were mad at him but they didn't want to hit him in front of us, but you could tell he was agitated. He kept leaving our group and going to talk to his friends. It was crazy," he further detailed on what happened.
Meanwhile, Lakers coach Byron Scott said that he was not informed of the incident until last Wednesday. Aside from being shocked, ESPN said that the coach laughed upon hearing the story.
"He would've got me better if he had said a shark, but a dolphin? C'mon," Scott said in the ESPN report.
