Samsung Galaxy S5 Specs and Features Rumors: Multi-Party Video Conferencing Call Option Spotted
With bandwidths increasing around the world, video calls have become more and more integrated into our daily lives. If an early document is correct, it looks like Samsung will be upping the ante in 2014 with a multi-party video conferencing feature on the next-gen Galaxy S handset, rumored to be the Galaxy S5.
According to a document filed with the Korean Intellectual Property Rights Information Service, Samsung has been working on an interface to support multi-party video conferencing calls. Samsung's ChatON app already allows for one-way video conference calls, but it looks like Samsung will expand on that dramatically.
The leaked document shows an interface where all parties involved can switch between rear and front-facing cameras at any time during the conference. The leaked images show a video conference call conference containing a party of four, but there's no telling at this stage how many Samsung will allow in total. It's also unclear if this will be built into the messaging feature, or if it will be integrated into ChatON, or if it will debut as a Galaxy S5 feature. Samsung does like to give its new releases a special function older devices in its lineups don't have, and this could be one of them.
Samsung has not commented on the matter, although the documents appear to be legitimate enough.
Other rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S5 include talks of a metal casing and a 64-bit processor with 4GB of accompanying RAM. The camera should also see a boost to 16 megapixels.
Samsung typically reveals a brand new Galaxy S smartphone during the first half of the year, so expect more concrete details about the Galaxy S5 to begin leaking out as soon as 2014 hits.
