‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Release Date, Rumors & Updates: 5 Gameplay Features on Wishlist
"Red Dead Redemption" is undoubtedly one of Rockstar's most-beloved franchises, considering the massive interest to its follow-up installment. In fact, word along the grapevine even has it that John Marston's descendant would be crossing over to the world of "GTA VI," yet another rumored Rockstar sequel.
Speculations just got stronger when Take-Two Interactive expressed its vision of capitalizing from the success of "proven franchises." From a recent conference call, 2K's Karl Slatoff spoke, "Looking further ahead, we have a robust pipeline of titles in development, including ground breaking new intellectual properties, and new releases from our proven franchises."
Die-hard RDR fans would think of their beloved game in an instant, but Rockstar has expressed that making sequels need not be rushed -- specially for a title like "Red Dead Redemption."
"As we've mentioned when asked in the past about new games in other series such as 'Red Dead Redemption,' 'Bully' and 'L.A. Noire,' we don't always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won't get to them eventually," the company said.
QUIKDOCS heard that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will arrive in November, so we could be nine months away from getting another glimpse of America in the 1900's -- if the setting remains the same.
While Rockstar's word has not come, we've curated five of the most interesting fan wishes, all potential features of "Red Dead Redemption 2." Check them out!
1. No Origin Story
A user from this GameFAQS thread expressed not wanting to see a John Marston prequel. He argued, "It always bugs me when I see people say this. Why would you want to play a prequel game where you know what happens to the protagonist in the end? It just boggles my mind." Sound good?
2. A Bigger Setting
A bigger world with more towns -- this is the wish of one IGN forum user, who wanted to come across "mining towns, little villages, some encampments and some outposts."
In addition, the user wanted to see a lively world full of people and traders. Well, the more the merrier, right?
3. Jack Marston's Redemption
The Official PlayStation Magazine (UK) wanted to see Jack's return, but of course, he should never be the same. The outlet hoped to see an older Jack who's "more ambiguous and way less moany."
It would be interesting to see how far Jack takes the memory of his deceased father, as this might be a crucial point in the game's storyline. After all, it's a sequel, so we're most likely seeing the plot center on his character. Unless he drives his way to "GTA VI."
4. Keep It "Mysterious"
Another IGN commenter wrote a slew of wishes, but one interesting note is that he wanted to keep things mysterious -- the RDR world and side missions, to be specific. In addition, the user hoped for more locations, but nevertheless not as too expansive.
5. Contemporary West
The OPM UK also wished for a modern-day Western, a Texan desert town in particular. RDR's setting has been one of the franchise's most-celebrated features, so we'll leave it up to Rockstar to decide. But really, cowboys will be missed.
Aside from allegations calling it "Red Dead Revolution," the game has been assumed to arrive for the PS4 and Xbox One.
Do you agree with above's wishlist? This time, we're gonna ask you: what do you want to see in "Red Dead Redemption 2?"
While there's no guarantee that Rockstar delivers all of the RDR fan's desires, a mouthful of ideas will always be loved -- specially by Pig Josh up there. Sound off in the comments below!
