Caroline Wozniacki Rumors: Tennis Star Spotted with Redskins' Ryan Kerrigan in New York
If their twin appearance at the Sports Illustrated party on Tuesday were an act, then tennis star Carol Wozniacki and Washington Redskins defender Ryan Kerrigan succeeded in playing with the minds of their followers.
Kerrigan was at one point seated beside Wozniacki -- with a hand around her waist, as the lady also rested her hand on his shoulder, according to a tweet from the tennis athlete herself.
The fifth-ranked player accompanied the photo with the words: "Fun times!"
"...[H]ow is ryan??? Looking good together! !" one commenter said in the comments section. "ATTA boyyyyy @RyanKerrigan91," another quipped.
Wozniacki, 24, landed a spread in the swimsuit issue and, per the Washington Post, she joined Maria Sharapova, Maria Kirilenko, sisters Serena and Venus Williams, Steffi Graf, Anna Kournikova, Ana Ivanovic, Tatiana Golovin and Daniela Hantuchova, among others, in a long list of WTA stars that have posed for the annual issue.
So it turns out that retired baseball sensation Derek Jeter, the now-controversial Hannah Davis' plus one, was not the only famous sportsguy in the New York event, said a Washington Post blog.
It is the second time beginning December that Kerrigan and Wozniacki were spotted together, Sports World News said. They were then spotted together at a charity event.
After that happened, CSN Washington immediately called them a D.C. power couple. Meanwhile, the Bleacher Report noted that the appearance officially marked the beginning of the moving-on phase for Wozniacki, who had in May broken up with golf's Rory McIlroy.
But Kerrigan tried to put off the fire immediately.
"I mean, I don't really want to get into it... We're friends, and she was in town, and she wanted to come to the event. We had a nice time at the event," Kerrigan had said of the event.
Despite his explanation, the speculations will surely flood once more, as even Redskins.com, a site dedicated to the linebacker's team, even promised to keep tabs on new photos of the two.
Wozniacki announced her participation in the swimwear issue on Monday, said the Daily Mail. Also modelling are Irina Shayk, Stephanie Bertram Rose, Gregory van der Wiel, Gigi Hadid and even UFC superstar Ronda Rousey.
The piece added some of Wozniacki's personal details revealed on the magazine, including the fact that she preferred sneakers instead of high heels and liked Chinese cuisine.
The stint is being widely interpreted as Wozniacki's showoff maneuver, per Sports World News. The Guardian agrees, commenting that posing wih skimpy clothing was her subtle way of reminding McIlroy of what he's now missing.
Golfweek writer David Dusek also joked on Twitter: "Dear Rory, Hope you're well."
According to Redskins.com, Kerrigan was a first-round draft in 2011. Wozniacki, it added, won over 440 matches and also held two doubles titles.
The Daily Mail, quoting the magazine, revealed that she hoped to win a Grand Slam this 2015 and wanted to play a doubles match with Serena Williams.
