'Reign' Season 1 Episode 7 Spoilers: Mary and Francis are Taken Hostage [Video]
On the latest episode of historical drama "Reign," pagans threatened Mary's wellbeing and Bash began to comprehend how risky his position is at court.
In the episode, the bloodthirsty pagans are threatening Mary (Adelaide Kane), and Bash (Torrance Coombs) is stressing that the pagans want to kill and sacrifice someone. Meanwhile, Francis (Tony Regbo) is angry about the kiss he saw between Mary and Bash.
Bash decides to take a criminal out into the woods for the sacrifice, but then sacrifices the pagan instead. (Although the thief gets shoved off a cliff anyway.)
Queen Catherine (Megan Follows) finds out that someone tried to kill Mary, so she does everything she can to track down the culprit. Mary and Catherine round up the servants in the throne room to figure out who could be the wrongdoer. Mary tells them that anyone who gives information will be protected. When no one comes forward, Catherine says that anyone who doesn't give up info will have their village burnt to the ground. Catherine eventually discovers that an unkempt guard is responsible for the threat.
Mary then fights off a pagan servant with a fire poker, and both pagans end up in flames.
Meanwhile, Kenna (Caitlin Stasey) is upset at the King because she wants to be his number one mistress. Although he reassures her of his love for her, he quickly goes back to his original mistress, Diane (Anna Walton).
Later, Francis finally tells Bash and Mary that he saw their kiss, and he's furious about it. He says he and Mary's relationship is destructive, and tells her that she can get have an affair with anyone in the castle except Bash. Francis then leaves the two and goes to spend some intimate time with Olivia (Yael Grobglas).
On the next episode, "Left Behind," "Mary and Francis are taken hostage when the castle falls under siege, and Catherine makes a shocking suggestion in an effort to save them. Meanwhile, Diane reveals to Bash that she's plotting to have him declared legitimate."
TVLine reports that later on in the season, Amy Brenneman ("Private Practice") will join the cast as Mary's mother, Marie de Guise. Brenneman was recently cast in Tom Perrotta's HBO pilot "The Leftovers."
