Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date & Rumors: 8 Devices Coming? Prepare for MWC 2015!
Samsung brings a slew of smartphones and tablets this year, if current reports hold truth.
To start with, the Galaxy S6 is pegged to arrive in five different versions, the Digital Journal cited. In the past, speculations over the upcoming S-line flagship claimed that Samsung has more than one model up its sleeve. These included the standard S6 model, a Galaxy S6 Edge, a Galaxy S6 Mini and a Galaxy S6 Active.
However, CNET took note of a recent leak, which purportedly showcased the Galaxy S6 in five distinct bodies. Although the image has not been generously captioned, it appears that all versions sported an aluminum-like finish -- plastic seems out of the picture.
The outlet is convinced that the leftmost model is the standard Galaxy S6; next to it is a Verus-branded variant. The middle version may only be speculated, since only its back portion has been rendered.
What's worth noticing is the image's fourth and fifth models, which suggested the truth behind the existence of the Galaxy S6 Edge. This version is long rumored to draw inspiration from the Galaxy Note Edge, Samsung's Quad HD device launched in Sept. 2014.
As we have previously reported, the Galaxy S6 is expected to launch at the Mobile World Congress, within a Samsung event called "Unpacked." The Korean tech giant has already sent out invitations, most notably in the form of a mysterious graphic that says "What's Next."
Set at the Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona (CCIB), Samsung's presentation kicks off on Mar. 1 at 6:30 p.m. CET (12:30 p.m. EST). The event will be livestreamed on Samsung's YouTube channel and Samsung Tomorrow.
The Galaxy S6 is believed to come with a 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED screen, 4K (2160 x 3840) resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass 4, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 / 810 processor (and an Exynos 7420 variant), 20 MP main camera, 5 MP front snapper, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB / 64 GB / 128 GB storage options, Android 5.0 Lollipop support and new fingerprint sensor, the PC Advisor cited.
Meanwhile, Samsung could also be refreshing its tablet line with three new devices. Citing information from GalaxyClub, Phone Arena reported that the company has applied for three new trademarks: a Samsung Galaxy Tab A, Samsung Galaxy Tab E and Samsung Galaxy Tab J.
While we can guess that these brands are future tablets, the above outlet believed that they might be a "new naming scheme for the existing Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Tab S, or the Galaxy Note / Note Pro lineups."
No further information has been revealed surrounding the nature of these trademarks, so we'll be looking out for tips on specs and features. Nevertheless, SamMobile predicted that the trademark applications refer to at least three different screen sizes.
