'Gran Turismo 7' PS4 Release Date News & Rumors: What We Know So Far
Speculations surrounding "Gran Turismo 7" had been around for quite some time. While the upcoming driving sequel remains to be a thing of the future, it may be nice to look at how the game's developers have shaped the title thus far.
In 2013, it was thought that "Gran Turismo 7" arrives the following year. Franchise creator Kazunori Yamauchi told Top Gear then, "We don't want to take too long on 'Gran Turismo 7.' Best-case scenario? Next year."
But 2014 eventually came, and no shadow of a single GT7 car was cast -- at least in the public eye. In June, Eurogamer reported that Polyphony has been working on the title. It's even assumed that standard cars are up to stay.
In a dialogue with the outlet, Yamauchi admitted, "We are working on the title... I don't think it'll make this year!"
While things appeared to be bland, the creator, interestingly, revealed that "Gran Turismo 7" might come out as a full game instead of bits, "I don't think it'll be a Prologue."
Yamauchi also expressed that players can expect audio improvement in the upcoming installment. Now that's something to look forward to.
Yamauchi said, "I think the quality of the sounds in 'Gran Turismo 6' will be improved, but most of the work will be done in 'Gran Turismo 7.'"
Later in 2014, news about the title's release window have surfaced, following the confirmation straight from Polyphony. As reported by Game Rant, Yamauchi announced that "Gran Turismo 7" will launch for the PS4 in either 2015 or 2016.
The title, being released for Sony's next-gen console, is seen as a big leap from its PS3 counterpart. Speaking to GamesTM, Yamauchi compared, "Everything will be running naturally, PS3 was much, much more difficult. The high quality of data that we have being rendered on the PS4 I think is going to make an incredible difference."
Certainly, we cannot directly pinpoint what sort of "incredible difference" the game shall bring, but Game Rant is convinced that it has something to do with visuals.
"For GT7, myself and my staff have a clear vision: to do everything we couldn't do in GT6. We want to make it very 'Gran Turismo.' By that I mean it's going to be a game that matches the very era that we live in, in 2015 or 2016," Yamauchi spilled.
In December, "Gran Turismo 6" bagged a Gold Prize at the PlayStation Awards for outstanding sales in Japan. However, DualShockers noted that Yamauchi was not around to accept the award -- speculating that the helm might be out to prepare the winning game's sequel.
