Ivy Queen 'Vendetta' Album 2015: Singer Releases Four-in-One Project
Ivy Queen returns with her 10th studio album, promising to uphold women empowerment once more with her fierce approach to music.
According to a report from Latina Entertainment, the 42-year-old hitmaker released a four-in-one project titled "Vendetta," which features salsa, bachata, hip-hop, and urban music.
"That's why it's called Vendetta, because I'm getting revenge...my revenge. That's the type of revenge that I like, music revenge," Ivy Queen said in an exclusive interview with Billboard.
In a report by Chron, she further explained:
"But I really gave it that title because when I was pregnant, there were lots of businessmen who weren't contracting me for shows. It was like being pregnant was a disease or I was dead. People were telling me, 'Pregnant women shouldn't wear heels.' I don't have to live by anyone else's rules. If they don't hurt, and you want to wear heels, wear heels. I went through so much stuff in those nine months. I was like, 'OK, don't worry. I'll be back.'"
The four discs contain 32 songs -- eight for each style -- and are launched under the Filtro Music label, Fox News Latino reported. Ivy Queen collaborated with Andy Montañez, Tito Rojas, Luisito Carrion, Vico C, MC Ceja and Fat Joe, J-Alvarez, Farruko, Ñengo Flow, Jowell & Randy, J-King & Maximan, and the Dominican Optimo, the outlet added.
The veteran Puerto Rican singer, whose real name is Martha Ivelisse Pesante, said that "Vendetta" aims to show the world that she can also do music which are different from urban songs. According to the singer, she's doing something "that nobody in the industry ever did before," Fox News Latino noted. Ivy Queen is known for her tracks such as "Que Lloren," "Te He Querido, Te He Llorado," "La Otra" and "Quiero Bailar."
"There were too many hours of sacrifice in the recording studio, working until sunrise with people who believe in you and whom you love," the singer said, as quoted by Fox News Latino. "I've been in this industry for 20 years and all that time is not going to be in vain."
Ivy Queen also added that the tracks in the album "are born of me and of love, of the music and the lyrics," the news outlet reports. "Vendetta" is produced by DJ Nelson and Mambo Kings.
The album will come out in markets on February 3, and can either come in the deluxe version with all four discs, or each disc can be bought separately, Fox News Latino noted.
