Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date, Specs, Features & Price: Confirmed for MWC 2015?
If rumors are holding the right cards, the world will see Samsung's next flagship in the upcoming Mobile World Congress.
That's because a Samsung invitation is being distributed, PCMag reported. Flaunting a mysterious graphic, the event mentions "Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2015" -- indicative of something coming out of the box.
As told by PC Mag, the presentation kicks off Mar. 1 at 6:30 p.m. CET (12:30 p.m. EST). Those unable to attend need not worry, as Samsung sets to livestream the event on its official YouTube channel and global blog.
While we're still roughly a month from catching the event, speculations are already rife, convinced that Samsung is "unpacking" a device no other than the Galaxy S6.
Looking back at the company's invitation, it's hard to take one's eyes off the curved architecture highlighted by the black background. If such form turns out to be the next Galaxy S (whatever it's called), the world might just see the most radically-modified smartphone in history -- not totally straight, not totally curved, but something that falls in between. Or maybe something else.
Now we're reminded: is this Samsung's "Project Zero?"
For some time already, we've heard that the Galaxy S6 comes in three variants: the standard model, the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy S6 Mini. But without Samsung's official word, all these things become mere products of industry speculations.
TechCrunch believed that it's unlikely for the Korean tech giant to bring one feature "that has yet to be proven among consumers." Despite the assumption, the outlet looked at the possibility of an "Edge" version coming out alongside the standard S6.
The Galaxy S6 is thought to have a 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED screen, Quad HD (1440 x 2560) or 4K (2160 x 3840) resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass 4, new fingerprint sensor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 / 810 processor (and an Exynos 7420 variant), 20 MP main camera, 5 MP front snapper, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB / 64 GB / 128 GB storage options, a Themes Center and Android 5.0 Lollipop support, PC Advisor cited.
Meanwhile, GSMArena took note of the device's purported dimensions, which come at 143.5 x 70.7 x 7.2 mm (5.65 x 2.78 x 0.28 in). Other possible features cited by the outlet include Qi Wireless charging, Samsung Pay (Visa, MasterCard and AMEX certified), Wi-Fi 802.11 and Bluetooth 4.0 support.
As we have previously noted, the Galaxy S6 is presumed to retail for $649 in full payment, or $199 under a two-year contract.
"Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2015" is set to take place at the CCIB (Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona). The Mobile World Congress, as you know, happens on Mar. 2 - 5, 2015.
