Latin Rock Star Juanes to Perform at the Grammys in Spanish
Colombian superstar Juanes will perform once again at the 57th Grammy Awards.
To make things more exciting for his fans, Juanes will sing a full song in Spanish for the first time ever in the award's show history, Fox News Latino reported. The upcoming performance could become the biggest Latino number in the ceremony since Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony did a duet of "Escapemonos" a decade ago.
"I'm very excited. I can't believe this is going to happen. You know, I've been waiting for this moment for many years and we are very excited now that it's about to come, to happen," Juanes said in an interview with the Associated Press held at his Miami recording studio, as quoted by Fox News Latino.
He added, "We are going to perform a new song called 'Juntos,' or 'Together,' the song that we made for the Disney movie 'McFarland, USA.'" So, yes, we're rehearsing and practicing a lot, and just ... (getting) ready for that big night."
Juanes said that he liked "McFarland, USA" so much when he saw it. So he readily accepted when Disney Studios asked him to write a song for the film, Fox News Latino added in its report. The singer said that the movie, which stars Kevin Costner, touched his heart "in a very positive way, in a very deep way" and that it's "a very inspiring story."
The Latino added that the inspiration of the song "comes from the movie itself." He co-wrote it with fellow Colombian Fonseca and Cuban Descemer Bueno under the production of Juan Luis Guerra.
Neil Portnow, president and CEO of The Recording Academy, also expressed excitement over the singer's gig in the upcoming Grammy Awards, which will be held on February 8, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will air live on CBS.
"A two-time Grammy and 20-time Latin Grammy winner, we are thrilled that current nominee Juanes has been added to the exciting lineup of artists performing at the 57th annual Grammy Awards," Portnow said, as quoted by Fox News Latino.
Juanes had his own English-Spanish rendition of Elton John's "Your Song" in the 2013 Grammy Awards ceremony, the news outlet noted. The singer-songwriter is also nominated for Best Latin Pop Album for his record titled "Loco de Amor" or "Crazy for Love." According to a report from Latin Times, Juanes posted a video on Vine to share the news about his exciting performance in the Grammys. In the clip, he said, "From Colombia to the world!"
