Arsenal FC Transfer News: Luis Suarez Back to Premiere League?

By Nens Bolilan| Feb 02, 2015

Arsene Wenger, manager of Arsenal, might have offered to Luis Suarez a way into the Premier League, according to rumors.

The story rang out from a report by The Sun, said Mirror UK, in its round up of football news, declaring: "Struggling Barcelona striker Luis Suarez will be offered a return to the Premier League by Arsene Wenger."

The Daily Star also noted the issue, linking it to the firing of sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta. It said that move might just leave the athlete out of the Barcelona roster.

Of course it still boggles the soccer world about how and why Wenger would have come up with such a big leap of faith, with the report adding that the Uruguayan has been struggling with poor form since entering the La Liga in the summer.

And that casts doubt on the wiseness of the multimillion deal worth £75 million, for a once-top scorer in England.

According to The Bleacher Report, with the transfer window shutting this week, all sorts of gossips have been surfacing on newspapers and other media outfits.

The report attempted to analyze the possibility of transfers -- "...[W]hich rumours have some value and which don't?"

It placed the Suarez deal "very low" on the believability meter.

The rumor about Suarez getting accepted into Arsenal was not a new thing, the report said, having broken out as a "£40 million and one pound" bid before, per The Guardian.

"This transfer link might have its basis in past truths, with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger a known admirer of the former Ajax man, but its chances of coming to fruition are, at best, minimal," the report said.

It mentioned the transfer ban currently upon Barcelona, aside from the team being the Uruguayan's longtime dream.

The dire straits are also not over yet for Suarez, having been substituted on Sunday -- possibly best remembered through appearing to blame his boots.

"The Uruguayan won't have been angry with how the game itself was going, given his side were leading and seeing out the last few minutes," said another article on The Bleacher Report. "No, the only reason he was upset was because he had several chances to score and couldn't find the net."

Although Barcelona won, and for the eighth time in a row, manager Luis Enrique defended Suarez post-match.

He said optimistically: "Suarez brings a lot to the game. He works hard defensively and pushes back the centre backs. The goals will come, no doubt. He will score important goals for us this season."

He also explained that his contributions should not be dismissed based only on his lack of goals. "I'd be more worried if he wasn't getting chances, but he has those and he also creates a lot for his team-mates," Enrique said.

One thing is for sure, though: Time is running out.

"The fact it was the Uruguayan's 28th birthday merely rubbed salt in the wound," said The Bleacher Report.
