It has been confirmed that Australian actress Rose Byrne is reprising her role as Moira MacTaggert in Director Bryan Singer and 20th Century Fox's upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse," A.V. Club reported.

Byrne didn't appear in last year's "X-Men: Days of Future Past," but she's not missing out again as she has been reportedly invited to come back to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. However, parts of her memory were erased during the final moments of her appearance on 2011's "X-Men: First Class," so fans can only wonder what role Moira will be playing in the lives of the X-Men this time.

Apparently, it's a major one, according to writer Simon Kinberg, who was interviewed by Entertainment Weekly.

Kinberg shared that Byrne will be playing a "significant character" in the film. However, he explained that since Moira had her memory erased, the other X-Men will end up being strangers to her when she meets them.

He also mentioned Moira's relationship with Professor X. As fans remember, Moira was introduced in "First Class" as a CIA agent and the love interest of Professor X, according to Variety. However, "Apocalypse" is set about 20 years after "First Class," so it's unknown how she'll fit into upcoming film.

Kinberg kept mum on the details and simply stated, "It's certainly a rich relationship that we started to dig into in 'First Class' and would like to mine more in this one."

The character arcs of the other X-Men will also be fleshed out more, and Kinberg pointed out that they were completing the first arcs of their main characters, Dr. Hank McCoy a.k.a Beast, Erik Lehnsherr a.k.a. Magneto, Raven Darkholme a.k.a. Mystique and Charles Xavier a.k.a. Professor X, according to Cinema Blend.

"They're such young actors and young characters, so they're a lot more story to tell," Kinberg said. "But as a first phase of their lives, there is this feeling of closure by the end of the movie."

Nicholas Hoult, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and James McAvoy will be reprising their roles, respectively. They are joined by the Sophie Turner as young Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp as young Storm and Tye Sheridan as young Cyclops. Evan Peters will be playing Quicksilver and Oscar Isaac has been cast as En Sabah Nur a.k.a. Apocalypse, who will be the main villain.

Channing Tatum's Remy LeBeau a.k.a. Gambit will debut in the film, and rumors have it that Hugh Jackman will be reprising his role as Logan a.k.a. Wolverine.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is scheduled to hit theaters on May 27, 2016. A trailer has yet to be released but Kinberg confirmed that pre-production is already beginning in Montreal, so hopefully an official trailer will come out soon.
