'Transformers 5' Release Date, Cast & News Update: 5 Plot Details We Know So Far
Official information on "Transformers 5" has been minimal at best, and even now Paramount Pictures is oddly keeping mum on the date of the franchise, possibly causing more worry than excitement over the return of the franchise, Christian Today reported.
Here are some of the plot details we know so far based on rumors and reports. Until Paramount Pictures officially confirms the information though, fans should be warned against completely believing them all.
1. The Autobots are back, with some new allies.
It's actually pretty obvious, since a movie can't run without its heroes, but reports have come in about new robots that will be helping them. The Mechanoids, such as Override and Red Alert, will be introduced in the film and will join the fight led by their leader Ultra Magnus, according to Inquisitr.
2. The Decepticons are also back, with their own set of villains.
With new heroes come new villains, and the Decepticons have found fellow robots with an evil streak. Scourge, Cyclonus and Blitzwig are part of the Quintessons, which many fans might remember was mentioned by Optimus Prime in the previous film as being their ancient creators, according to Venture Capital Post.
3. Mankind is fighting back.
Humans are not going to sit back and let robots take over their planet.
Mark Wahlberg is rumored to be reprising his role as Cade Yeagar and possible new additions are "Transformers" alum Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf who previously played Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes, respectively. Other rumored additions are Bruce Willis and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, according to Cross Map.
The heroes will definitely kick some robotic butt and save the world. That is, unless one of them is actually pitching for the other side.
4. A big battle is ahead, but what for?
Some, especially those more familiar with the original animated "Transformers" movie, are claiming that it has something to do with Unicron, known as the Lord of Chaos, Planet-Eater, Chaos-Bringer and most especially known as the evil twin brother of Optimus Prime, noted Inquisitr.
The Mechanoids battled Unicron in the original animated movie, so there might be a chance the Decepticons will want to bring Unicron into the fold to wreak havoc on all the worlds.
5. A throwback to the past?
The action and explosions are already expected, and also the dark, brooding tone, but there is a chance that the movie will go back to its original funnier, lighter tone, according to Movie Pilot.
Peter Cullen, the voice of Optimus Prime, talked about it during his panel for SacAnime 2015, saying that there was a chance the fifth and sixth films of the franchise will go back "to the bread and butter."
The "Transformers" film franchise is one of the highest-grossing film franchises of all time. However, its last film, "Transformers: Age of Extinction" received negative reviews despite garnering millions in the box office. Hopefully, Paramount Pictures manages to shed some light on the film soon.
"Transformers 5" is rumored to be coming out on June 24, 2016.
