'Hannibal' Season 3 Spoilers & Cast News: Glenn Fleshler Cast As 'Creepy' Nurse
Production is currently ongoing for the third season of NBC's psychological, thriller and horror series "Hannibal," and news has appeared about a new face that will be joining its list of characters, and he's none other than Glenn Fleshler, Vulture reported.
Fleshler is probably a familiar face to many who have seen him play Errol Childress a.k.a. The Spaghetti Monster, the odd, lawn-mowing murderer in "True Detective." His new role might not be too far off and may possibly be even odder.
The news was revealed by journalist and actor Michael Ausiello who dished about Fleshler's role to TVLine. He said that Fleshler will be joining "Hannibal" as Cordell, the nurse to the disfigured, meat market magnate Mason Verger.
Cordell was described as "quiet, very intelligent and definitely creepy, yet attentive and gentle with Mason."
"He's a professional who cares about his work, but we get a sense he might be as sadistic as his boss, and a perfect fit to become his potential henchmen," Ausiello said.
Those who have read the original "Hannibal" novels are probably more aware of who Cordell is and how creepy he could be. The man is actually Verger's personal doctor and also serves as his spokesperson of sorts after Hannibal convinced the pedophilic Verger to peel off his own face using a piece of glass. What is even creepier is that Cordell is known to hang around Verger's trained, flesh-eating pigs, according to Paste.
Fleshler is one of several new faces that will be joining the main cast consisting of Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen, Gillian Anderson, Laurence Fishburne and more, according to The Wrap.
"The Hobbit" star Richard Armitage was recently cast as the serial killer Francis Dolarhyde, also known as "The Tooth Fairy," while "True Blood" actress Rutine Wesley will be playing Reba McClane, a blind woman who has a connection with Dolarhyde.
Joe Anderson from "The Crazies" is also onboard to play Mason Verger, replacing "Boardwalk Empire" actor Michael Pitt. He and Fleshler will obviously be working closely given their roles.
Nina Arianda from "Rob the Mob" will also be joining the cast as Molly Graham, while Raul Esparza will be returning to the show as Dr. Frederick Chilton. Eddie Izzard is also possibly returning as the late Dr. Able Gideon, while "The Wolverine" star Tao Okamoto will be playing Lady Murasaki, Hannibal's fake aunt according to Screen Crush.
"Hannibal" is set to return this summer on NBC. A set release date has yet to be announced.
