MacBook Air Retina 2015 Revealed? Is This The 12-inch Apple Laptop?
It's out?
While Apple has not released an official statement yet, reports have claimed that the 12-inch, Retina-powered MacBook Air is already confirmed.
The Inquisitr wrote, "Apple, Inc. has already released its new product line for 2015, including a 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display... Fans of Apple, Inc. will be happy to hear this news."
The 12-inch MacBook Air will reportedly come out in March, "around the same time" as the Apple Watch. For those who may not know, Apple has confirmed the release of its smartwatch in "early 2015," but no specific date has been set.
The Inquisitr went on to report that the Cupertino giant will release a 13- and 15-inch Macbook Pro with Retina display. These models have been the subjects of earlier speculations. As to when these units are up for release, the source noted, "The MacBook Pro Retina isn't expected to release until April."
KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also predicted a ship-by date for the Retina MacBook Air "sometime this quarter [Q1 2014]," the Apple Insider said. As told by the outlet, the analyst expected 6 million units of Mac sales for the first three months of 2015.
Last year, we've seen Apple release products in two consecutive months. We saw the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September, while the iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3 and Retina iMacs came a month after.
With no official word straight from the company, we're taking the recent information with a grain, no, make that a handful of salt. That said, it is uncertain whether the rumored Retina MacBook Pros are launching simultaneously with the likewise-speculated MacBook Air.
Meanwhile, Rival manufacturer Dell is ready to compete with the new MacBook Air. Donnie Oliphant, XPS Product Marketing Director, said via Forbes, "We definitely believe that the next MacBook Air is going to be a very aggressive design."
According to the Dell rep, the new notebook will bring Intel's Core M chip. The device is also expected to weigh 2.2 lbs (around 1 kg), "if not lighter."
With Dell's new XPS 13 in mind, Oliphant spoke with confidence, "We're not worried about someone being able to make a smaller x and y [width and height]."
Apparently, Dell and Apple seem to go against each other in the notebook arena. The former's recently updated Precision M3800 directly competes with the existing MacBook Pro, packing 4K Ultra HD display and Thunderbolt 2, among other features.
Aside from a thinner body and fanless architecture, the 2015 MacBook Air is rumored to pack a 12-inch Retina display, an Intel Broadwell chip and USB 3.0 Type-C port, Christian Today noted.
