Sony Xperia Z4 Release Date: Specs, Features & Price vs Sony Xperia Z3
The rave is on for Sony's Xperia Z4, expected to make an appearance at this year's Mobile World Congress. The event happens on Mar. 2 - 5 in Barcelona, Spain.
According to TechRadar, the rumored smartphone has a fair chance of arriving in the event, since the similar occasion unveiled the Xperia Z2 back in 2012.
The alleged handset was able to pass Japanese certification bodies earlier this month, the outlet said in another report.
If the Xperia Z4 comes out in March, prospects are left with one more month of waiting. We've collected the most recent information surrounding the device's specs and features, to see how they compare with predecessor Xperia Z3. Read on.
Display
The Xperia Z4 is tipped to arrive in two displays, Android Pit reported. Citing information from ePrice.com, the outlet wrote that one will come with a QHD screen, while another arrives with Full HD display.
For a numerical reference, QHD (Wide Quad High Definition) is equivalent to a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. On the other hand, Full HD packs 1920 x 1080 pixels -- the resolution found in Xperia Z3, which came with a 5.2-inch screen.
As told by Android Origin, the Xperia Z4 is said to come with a 5.5-inch display. If this holds truth, the new flagship is obviously larger than its predecessor.
Processor, RAM and Storage Capacity
The PC Advisor hinted that the Xperia Z4 might bring Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor (clocked at 2.8 GHz), 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB standard storage, Adreno 430 graphics and microSD support.
On the other hand, the Xperia Z3 packed a quad-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (clocked at 2.5 GHz), 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB of flash memory, Adreno 330 GPU and microSD support.
Photography
Sony has officially announced its 21 MP IMX230 sensor, Know Your Mobile wrote. The technology features "plane phase detection." It's also said to sport the ability of fast-tracking / capturing moving objects, without blurred results.
It is unclear whether the Xperia Z4 brings this feature, but the sensor is expected to enter mass production in April.
The Xperia Z3 arrived with a stunning 20.7 MP main camera, with 8x digital zoom and 4K video recording features. Its front snapper captured selfies under a resolution of 2.2 megapixels.
Network Connectivity & Operating System
According to the PC Advisor, the addition of LTE Cat 6 and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity were tipped for the Xperia Z4. The outlet is also convinced that the handset will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The Xperia Z3 has been supported by 2G, 3G and 4G networks, although the latter is not available in all markets. It came with Bluetooth 4.0 and Android KitKat, but it's also expected to get the Lollipop upgrade.
Price
Since the Xperia Z4 will be Sony's new flagship, TechRadar predicted that it will come with a "high price tag." Its predecessor, Z3, was launched with a retail price of $630.
