Android L 5.0 Release Date & Download: LG G3 Update Confirmed!
The LG G3 can only be sweeter, following the company's announcement in a recent tweet, "Introducing Lollipop: a sweet treat for your #LGG3."
LG USA Mobile has meant no other "sweet treat" than the newest Android operating system, the Android 5.0 Lollipop. While the tweet has not confirmed an official OTA release, users have expressed delight over Lollipop's arrival to the LG device.
As a refresher, Android has officially announced Lollipop's rollout on Nov. 3, which only makes LG's confirmation late. However, this shouldn't be very surprising, as Tech Times wrote that LG is among those licensees which tend to repackage Android's latest in "several months."
As told by the outlet, the first smartphones and tablets to receive new versions of Android had been Google's Nexus devices. This is essentially true, given the fact that Lollipop initially rolled out for the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. It even shipped, originally, with the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9.
Yet LG has announced Lollipop for the G3 in an earlier press statement, with roll-outs beginning in Poland-located units. The mobile manufacturer then said, "LG Electronics this week will begin rolling out the highly anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade for G3 smartphones starting in Poland this week, to be followed by other key markets in the near future."
"LG, the first global smartphone manufacturer to offer the Lollipop upgrade in 2014, will subsequently announce an upgrade schedule for other LG mobile devices," the company added.
As expected, Lollipop has arrived for the LG G3 located in other regions of the world. The update has come for South Korea, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Portugal, the Latinos Post noted. Reportedly, the new OS also made its way to India, Belgium, Croatia, Hungary and Romania.
But then again, it won't be surprising to spot LG G3 units already sporting "Lollipop," despite the absence of an OTA update. Thanks to the presence of custom ROMs, early birds had a taste of the new system before the rest.

As G3 users in the U.S. are now bound to get the upgrade, International Business Times wrote that Lollipop has not reached other parts of the United Kingdom, as well as "other regions including Australia." Access may have depended on geographic locations and network service providers.
IBT added that the LG G3 has been one of 2014's best releases. Such success may have contributed to the hype surrounding its alleged successor, the LG G4.
