Kendrick Lamar New Album 2015: Record Out Jan. 27? The Truth Revealed!
Reports initially claimed that Californian rapper Kendrick Lamar was releasing his new album on Tuesday, and now, his record label TDE decided to finally set the rumors straight, Inquisitr reported.
Lamar's last album was "Good Kid, M.A.A.D City" which was released in 2012 to widespread crucial acclaim, spawning hits such as "B*tch, Don't Kill My Vibe," "Swimming Pools (Drank)" and more. So it's definitely not unusual that fans are clamoring for more news on the status of the "Poetic Justice" singer's next major label album.
The news of a Jan. 27 release sparked after a photograph started making rounds online courtesy of Section Eighty.
One of their writers happened to see a sign on Walmart on Wednesday that listed down Lamar's album and its supposed release date, though the list did not mention the album's title.
So far, TDE has kept mum on the details of Lamar's album, such as the title and album cover. This time though, they're speaking out.
The label's CEO simply tweeted, "hoodwinked.....#TDE" on Friday in reply to all the rumors.
Some are speculating that a Kendrick Lamar album release this month is unlikely. Digital releases usually precede the physical copies that get released to stores and as of now, neither TDE nor Lamar, had mentioned a January release. Lamar also does not seem like an artist who would release his album first through Wal-Mart, according to Music Times.
Then again, there are others who claim that it now is a good opportunity for Lamar to release an album given his upcoming performances at festival events in February and March.
Lamar will be headlining Shaun White's "Air + Style" event in Pasadena, California at the Rose Bowl Stadium on Feb. 21 and 22. He will perform alongside Steve Aoki, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Diplo, The Black Lips, White's band Bad Things, and more, according to Radio.
He will also be joining Bastille, Fall Out Boy, Korn, Echosmith, Slightly Stoopid and more at the upcoming Pot of Gold Music Festival 2015, which will be held from March 13 to 17 at the Tempe Beach Park in Arizona, according to Song Kick
Lamar also already released his first single for his upcoming third album. Titled "i," the song was released on Sept. 23, according to Inquisitr.
He also sang for Chris Brown's latest track "Autumn Leaves," which recently released its Japanese-themed music video, according to Highsnobiety. Brown himself invited Lamar to take part in the track, saying "I picked Kendrick because his subject matter as a lyricist is beyond everybody else's."
With plenty of musical projects, performances and appearances, anticipation for Lamar's album is only increasing. However, given his busy schedule, fans are no doubt also wondering when exactly Lamar will have time to focus on a new album for 2015.
