'Chucky 7' Release Date, Cast & Trailer: Child's Play Sequel Darker Than Ever!
In Sept. 2013, Universal has released "Curse of Chucky," Bloody-Disgusting recalls. For those who may not know, it is the sixth installment of the popular horror franchise "Child's Play," starring the demonic doll Chucky.
Over the years, Chucky's cult-like following has grown, from the moment of his first kill in the 1988 pilot picture. However, the latest film was thought to be such a cliffhanger, leaving fans wanting more.
In fact, creator Don Mancini has acknowledged the hype, and it appears that "Curse" was all intended. Mancini dropped in a tweet saying, "To the fans who've asked questions about Alice and the end of #CurseofChucky: All will be answered in part 7!"
Coming straight from the franchise's helm, there is no need to speculate on the arrival of a seventh installment. But with this, new questions are raised: when will it come and what will its title be?
Good enough, Mancini has spoken with Collider and revealed interesting details about the franchise, more specifically, about the upcoming sequel. When asked whether a follow-up to "Curse of Chucky" is in the works, Mancini reclaimed, "I am working on Chucky 7, yes."
The director-writer went on to tip that "Chucky 7," what we'll dub it for now, will trail behind the events of the 2013 film. We haven't seen Chucky's shadow in 2014, and if the film comes out this year, then it's set roughly two years from the events of "Curse." Alice, played by Summer Howell, would have grown by then.
Mancini told Collider, "Yes, it [Part 7] continues quite quickly on the last movie and Chucky bedevils [Fiona's] character again." Fiona Dourif played Nica Pierce in the last movie, so it's likely that we'll see her return fin the next installment.
As We Got This Covered saw it, "Curse of Chucky" succeeded as Mancini went "back to basics." The entire franchise was also "tied together" in Chucky's roots and his not-so-appealing purpose in this earth.
Aside from Fiona Dourif and Summer Howell, "Curse of Chucky" starred Danielle Bisutti (Barbara Pierce), Brennan Elliott (Ian), Chantal Quesnelle (Sarah), A Martinez (Father Frank), Maitland McConnell (Jill) and of course, Brad Dourif (Chucky).
Interestingly, Mancini expressed in a more recent dialogue that he wanted to do a Freddy (Freddy vs Jason) and Chucky mashup, Movie Pilot noted.
No official release date for "Chucky 7" has been confirmed at present. Nevertheless, it's time to ask you: When should it come out? Would you rather see a Freddy & Chucky spinoff? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments section.
