NBA News & Updates: Will Ferrel Hits Cheerleader With a Basketball
Actor and comedian Will Ferrel has become the latest hit in the NBA halftime entertainment on Wednesday night when he attempted to make a half-court shot but ended up hitting a cheerleader on her face.
According to Yahoo Sports, the dancer fell after being hit and concerned people started going towards her to check her condition while Ferrel was escorted out by security from the arena.
Many took to their social media account and expressed disgust on what happened, saying that dancers are not paid enough to be treated like that.
But the incident, which may have earned the ire of some people, was clearly staged as the Huffington Post said that it was part of the film being shot by the actor at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. So, don't worry, no one will be pressing charges against Ferrell.
The same report noted that this scene was for the upcoming film titled "Daddy's Home" which also stars Mark Wahlberg, Linda Cardellini and Hannibal Buress. The movie is about a divorced guy's ex-wife who remarries someone more uptight then her former husband re-enters her life and wreaks havoc on it.
Wahlberg, according to Yahoo Sports, will play the "mild-mannered radio executive who is determined to become the best stepdad possible to the children of his new wife," played by Cardellini.
Yahoo Sports also noted that many people just laughed at the stunt, but it appears some still got fooled into believing that it was a real mishap. A professional stuntwoman reportedly played as the Pelicans cheerleader who was hit with the basketball.
