Air Jordan Release Dates 2015: AJ 8 'Aqua' Coming This Black Friday? [Rumors]
Popular Air Jordan 8 option "Aqua" is reportedly slated for release late this year, projected to excite fans globally eight years since its last release in 2007.
"We're not even a full month into 2015 and there's already a major Jordan Brand rumour centered around Black Friday," noted Complex about the early buzz, citing an update by Dino Hatfield.
Nice Kicks claims to have verified the rumor about the come-backing Black/Bright Concord-Aqua number with several sources, who acknowledged that the news was certainly circulating.
"Right now the speculation is that the pair would release on Black Friday of 2015 which lands on November 27th... With the 23rd anniversary of the Air Jordan 8 also being in November, a Black Friday release would almost make perfect sense," explained Kicks on Fire.
Complex said the retro would be a part of the Air Jordan's Holiday lineup, commenting that the release was long overdue for such a well received model.
According to Hypebeast, Air Jordan 8, which included the "Aqua" colorway, was released at a time when Michael Jordan was at his peak in the NBA, boasting breakthrough features.
"Released in 1993, the Air Jordan 8 was the first Jordan shoe to feature the anti-inversion cross-over leather Velcro straps and the Huarache inner sleeve," said the piece. "During that time, Michael Jordan grabbed his three-peat title with the Chicago Bulls while also setting a scoring record in the '93 playoff finals against the Phoenix Suns."
"Aqua" was introduced to the market with White/Black-True Red and Black-Black-True Red, Hypebeast added.
Sneaker News said the model — black durabuck on the uppers, anti-inversion cross-straps, splashes of purple and aqua at the heel, Jumpman logo on the tongue and sole — is arguably the most popular option.
According to Sneaker Bar Detroit, the shoe also has an air sole, an inner sleeve and a polycarbonate torsion plate.
While many peg 2015 as the year of the Air Jordan 7s and while it would be "awkward" for Nike to let another Jordan genus steal the main player's thunder, Sneaker News said in another report that it would be a welcome purchase for this year's Black Friday.
"...[G]uess i'ma cop a second pair," said one commenter to the piece. "My prayers have been answered," another said.
However, others are not very enthusiastic, with one saying: "WACK!! Definite pass!"
"So, can anyone confirm if the paint job is remastered? My aquas from 2007 (?) are in great shape but the paint is cracked all over from casual wear. That drives me crazy," asked HeGotShoeGame11.
Kixify and eBay are selling some pairs of the colorway. One Sneaker News commenter added that the pair was very easy to get a hold of at present: "...[I]f people wanna get hyped up for a shoe most people have been able to get so be it."
A commenter at Complex reminded us: "It's January. Chill."
