'Evolve' PS4, Xbox One Release Date, Gameplay & Trailer: Unique 4V1 Match & New Monster Coming
On Wednesday, a new trailer for "Evolve" was released by Turtle Rock Studios and 2K Games. Running over seven minutes, "The Survival Guide Trailer" provides gamers a comprehensive overview of the "Evolve" universe and its gameplay mechanism.
"Evolve" is set in an unforgiving planet called Shear, and that said, players get a picture of survival as the most coveted price. The game offers, " It's survival of the fittest and any side can win. Choose your side."
To start with, "Evolve" runs a 4v1 shooter format, where four Hunters cooperate to defeat a single Monster (the Hunted). As listed by GameSpot, the team of Hunters is composed of four distinct characters: Assault, Medic, Support and Trapper.
At launch, the outlet noted that three Monsters will be available: Goliath, Kraken and Wraith. A fourth Monster named Behemoth is slated to bring terror as an upcoming DLC.
Citing information from Turtle Rock Studios' creative directors Phil Robb and Chris Ashton, IGN reported that Behemoth's armor and health pool are "several times" compared to Wraith. They are said to be "well beyond" Goliath's as well. Goliath, as you may already know, is the monster previously assumed to be the towering "tank" owned by the game. But as it turns out, the title may actually be best given to the gargantuan build that is Behemoth.
So what (or who) exactly is Behemoth?
For one, Behemoth appears to be a giant monstrosity of a rock, storing powerful flames that seems unleashed through his mouth. Considering his size, he doesn't look very speedy, but little of his movement could be enough to chase and devour a potential victim.
Behemoth is certainly a predator, and as described by IGN, he kills preys by using his tongue as weapon. In addition, it must be known that this part of his body is actually spiked. As you may expect it, the monster eventually takes down his delicious meal.
"Evolve" most certainly promises a unique gameplay experience, provided by two different modes. According to Gaming Target, Hunters play as first-person shooters, while the Monster sees the game from a third-person perspective.
The outlet cited Chris Ashton's remarks, "Our philosophy is to build incredibly fun game experiences that we can't find anywhere else... Evolve's co-op vs. lone wolf formula has created some of the most intense multiplayer matches we've ever experienced."
"Evolve" launches on the PS4, Xbox One and PC on Feb. 10, 2015, Mashable reported.
