Miss Universe Contestants Try Golfing in High Heels [Watch Video Here]

The ladies of the 63rd Miss Universe pageant on Monday headed to the opening of the Trump National Doral in Florida, dressed to impress pageant owner Donald Trump — but it seems they weren't informed that some were going to try their hand at golf.

It was an awkward juxtaposition of ultra-high heels, cocktail dresses, glam accessories and what can be best described as not-very-smooth swings at the renovated Red Tiger course, if a Miami Herald footage is to be believed. Watch it for yourself.

"The [top contestants] have many talents ... golf is not one of them," a very frank TMZ said. "[They] spent a day on the links with Donald Trump at his new course... and futilely attempted to smack around a few balls in high heels."

"Trump is a man who knows how to make a splash," said Golf.com of the manoeuvre, however.

According to Trump Hotel Collection, the Red Tiger "just may have undergone the most dramatic change of any of the course renovations at Trump National Doral."

"While the goal of every tee shot should be to take advantage of the gently contoured fairways, the subtle undulation of the small scaled greens require both bold and accurate shotmaking," it added.

With that in mind, the Golf Digest chose to be constructive: "Some of them looked pretty new to the sport, so we wanted to offer a helping hand."

If the Miss Universe were a golf contest, Miss Ireland would have brought home the crown in the field of five showcased in the video, said the report. Golf.com agreed.

"Probably the best swing of the bunch," Golf Digest noted. "She straightens her body a little too much during her backswing. If she takes off those high heels and maintains her posture a little better, she could be pretty good."

Miss Czech Republic, who TMZ noted had a Marilyn Monroe moment, destroyed the grass with her first backswing, so A for effort, the report commented. But she was standing too close to the ball and had a bad backswing.

"Miss Ghana's grip is a bit of a disaster.... Maybe she's going for accuracy over power," Golf Digest said, noticing that she did not swing too far back. The same note was given to Miss Lithuania.

Miss Israel seemed a tad too excited, shouting with her first attempt as though expecting to hit the ball. The report said: "Stance and grip both need a lot of work." To Golf.com, she would take first runner-up, though.

The last two weren't able to shake off the pageant patty in them, unable to switch from the one-foot-forward to feet-apart stance where it mattered.

Trump took the first swing, Miami Herald reported, noting that he registered 285 yards down the middle on his opening drive.

"How did you like that drive? Did you see it? That drive had a really nice ball flight to it," said the business tycoon, who is a golf enthusiast. All the Miss Universe contestants and reigning queen Gabriela Isler of Venezuela eyed that shot, of course.

"[He] was completely in his element Monday," the report said, noting that it seemed like he was opening a Christmas present belatedly.
