'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Spoilers: Ian Somerhalder & Nina Dobrev to 'Hook Up'? Delena Rain Kiss Part 2 Hinted!
After an incredibly awkward run-in at a Golden Globes after-party Sunday night, it seems that things are going to get more awkward for Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder as "The Vampire Diaries" creator Julie Plec hinted at things to move forward between their characters in the show.
Plec told E! News that the rest of TVD season 6 will include a "hookup, breakup, and makeup," although she did say that they will not be happening to the same couple, and did not delve deeper into the character experiences, either.
She did, however, hint at who will be hooking up, saying, "I can tell you that the hookup is ... people who like rain will be very happy."
Although this could be puzzling to some, the International Business Times pointed out that earlier in the season, Damon and Elena (Ian and Nina) had a "rain kiss" when Damon tried to help his girl regain some of the memories she lost by telling her about one of their romantic moments - and that involved the pair getting stuck in the rain.
As for the makeup and breakup, there are a few guesses. IBT noted that it could be Caroline and Stefan (Candice Accola and Paul Wesley) rebuilding their friendship, Alaric and Jo (Matt Davis and Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) getting a strain on their relationship due to Jo's murderous brother Kai (Chris Wood) hell-bent on going on a killing spree, or Bonnie and Jeremy (Kat Graham and Steven R McQueen) getting back together, although this will be a bit tough especially since McQueen is leaving Mystic Falls (and the show).
According to E! News, Plec said that they're saying goodbye to Elena's little brother, but will not be killing him off. She said, "I wouldn't dare kill Jeremy. I think that would be all forms of cruelty. But I do think that he's a man now, he's not a little kid anymore and he's got to live his life. It's time for him to get started doing that."
Plec also divulged more info on The Hollywood Reporter, where she said, "His final episode will be episode 614, and the episode leading up [to it] will be him grappling with whether or not it's time for him to say goodbye to Mystic Falls. Every year we look at which characters we feel like are ready to move on, whether to better things in life or to the Great Beyond. This year, we realized that Jeremy has truly grown into a man, and as the victim of so much pain at the hands of the supernatural universe, we felt like it was time for him to go out on his own and start a fresh new life - with a twist."
Are you excited for the "hookup, breakup, and makeup" or are you heartbroken over Jeremy leaving the show?
