Air Jordan 5 RiFF RAFF Shoes Gets 1 Million Bid! Is This Neon iCon Faux AJ 5 'Aquaberry' Worth It?
Nike fans are all abuzz after rapper and reality star Riff Raff set up a bid for a special pair of Air Jordan 5S, named the Neon iCon Air Jordan 5 "Aquaberry," despite news from Jordan Brand that there was no collaboration set between them, Kicks on Fire reported.
Riff Raff, real name Horst Christian Simco, took to his Instagram account to announce the auction on Monday, posting a photo of a pair of footwear and calling it a brand new Air Jordan.
"New Neon iCon Air Aquaberry Jordan Proto Type. Size 12. Only 1 pair ever!!!" the post read, which also showed a link to the rapper's eBay site.
Interested consumers were able to see the custom pair, which came in all black and featured Riff Raff's name and logo in teal at the back, with a pink Jumpman logo at the back and a blue Air Jordan tag, according to Baller Status.
Not only that, but another post stated that the winner of the "rarest" Jordan footwear will get the only existing pair of shoes of that brand and will also be given backstage VIP passes to any and all of Riff Raff's shows. It also stated that the shoe was designed by Riff Raff himself and has never come out on the market.
"If it's not directly from Riff Raff, it's a fake," the post concluded.
Jordan Brand released a statement to Hip-Hop Wired claiming that they had no plans to collaborate with Riff Raff, saying, "At this time, there are currently no plans for this shoe or a collaboration with this individual."
The statement followed Riff Raff's previous claims that the "Aquaberry" Air Jordan is set to collaborate with Champs Sports, Foot Action, Foot Locker and Fight Club, and that the footwear will retail for $750 alongside Riff Raff's new album.
The rapper's claims and Jordan Brand's statement has many fans suspicious, with some even claiming a Photoshop job on the footwear, especially as Fight Club is a consignment shop and not a retail store.
After being shot, down it now seemed like Riff Raff is trying to pull the job of himself in what the writers of Complex have called the "greatest troll job of all time."
Fake or not, however, some seem to be ecstatic over the supposedly rare footwear. So much so, that over 200 of the rapper's fans has set the bidding up to over $1 million, according to XXL Mag. Some of them may be trolls though, and it remains to be seen how Riff Raff's auction will turn out.
