Rihanna New Album 2015: 'R8' Release Date Before March? [Rumors]
Fans of pop music are all eagerly awaiting for Rihanna's upcoming album to drop. However, despite rumors circulating around about potential release dates and song leaks, the album - titled "R8 - still has no definite launching date. A new report from Pitchfork reveals that Rihanna's eighth studio album is bound to come out sooner than you think.
According to Pitchfork, "R8" is scheduled to launch in late winter, particularly around February or March. Collaborations with other musical artists such as Ne-Yo, Natalia Kills, Kanye West, Keisza, and DJ Mustard are to be expected. Calvin Harris, who was behind the singer's well-known track "We Found Love," was also confirmed to have been cut from the album, Pop Dust reports.
Just last week, an alleged demo cut from the album titled "World Peace" surfaced on YouTube, according to a report from Fashion & Style.
"Although it still has not been confirmed if the song was to appear on 'R8' or if was even really Rihanna on the track, the news of new music has certainly stirred fans' hopes of a release in the near future," the news outlet reports.
Digital Spy also reports that Rodney Jerkins, Sia, and David Guetta are involved in "R8." The latter's contribution in the album could sound "more chilled than expected" if we are to base on his latest album "Listen," which was a stark contrast from the dance floor beats Guetta is known for.
"There's one that I just gave to Rihanna," Sia previously stated, as quoted by Digital Spy. "Like, as soon as I played it for her manager, he flipped over it."
Digital Spy added that Sam Smith also hinted that he has been in the recording studio with Rihanna, as well as singer-songwriter Alicia Renee, who "got emotional hearing Rihanna record a song she had written for her." If the rumors are to be believed, Renee could provide "a spot of traditional R&B-pop to the table, meaning that R8 seems to be yet another nice mix of genres."
Rihanna in 'Home' Concept Record
Digital Spy adds that aside from "R8," the singer will also release a second new album titled "Home," a concept record for a new DreamWorks animated film of the same name. Rihanna will reportedly provide her voice for a teenage girl named Tip and will star alongside Jim Parsons, Steve Martin, and Jennifer Lopez. According to Digital Spy, the movie (due on March 27) will revolve around Tip as she manages "to escape capture by an alien race named the Boov when they invade planet Earth."
The "Home" soundtrack will include 12 original songs, so the news outlet noted that some of the artist collaborations we mentioned earlier could be intended for this concept record instead of "R8." The "Home" album is likely to launch shortly before or after the film premiered in theaters.
