'Sherlock' Season 4 Air Date, Spoilers & News: Benedict Cumberbatch & Fiance Expecting a Baby
There are a couple of news bits for Benedict Cumberbatch fans, and sure enough, 2015 is looking pretty awesome for the well-loved actor.
While it may be almost a year before the release of the next season of "Sherlock," The Independent UK reported that filming has already begun for the detective drama that made us love Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories all over again, with writer Mark Gatiss tweeting on Monday, "On my way West. It begins...#Sherlock."
However, this isn't for the fourth season yet. The website noted that the scenes currently being shot are for the Christmas Special which will air in December before the official fourth season begins in 2016.
Yes, the wait is that long, but as with every season, ace writing is to be expected. Gatiss already said in November, as quoted by another The Independent UK report, "Expect tragedy as well as adventure, that's just how it goes." He also added, "Just because it's in the stories, doesn't mean it'll happen in the series. There's an awful lots of changes and an awful lot of places to go and things to do."
While fans may be excited to watch actors Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role and Martin Freeman alongside as John Watson, Cumberbatch has some even more exciting news, something that could possibly overshadow fans anticipation on Sherlock getting back on the small screen.
That's right: it has been confirmed by Cumberbatch's rep, Karon Maskill, in a statement that the actor is expecting his first child with fiancée Sophie Hunter. As reported on The Guardian, Maskill said, "I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon." The couple, who announced their engagement via The Times newspaper last November, is set to marry in Spring 2015, The Guardian added.
It's only the beginning of the year, and things are looking up for the British actor with another season for Sherlock, a baby, and a wedding to look forward to, not to mention the many acting recognitions that he may receive come awards season. The actor is already a favorite contender for best actor in a drama at the Golden Globes for his performance as Alan Turing in "The Imitation Game."
Which event are you more excited for? The next Sherlock episode to finally get back on screen, or the birth of Cumberbatch and Hunter's baby?
