Caroline Wozniacki Dumped Again? Sponsor Wants Cristiano Ronaldo
It's a double heartbreak for tennis star Caroline Wozniacki. After PGA golfer Rory McIIroy called off their wedding last year, an underwear brand has reportedly dropped her as an endorser to focus more on Cristiano Ronaldo's line of menswear.
Sports World News said in a report that Danish fashion company JBS has decided to end ties with the 24-year-old tennis player. Wozniacki began to endorse the brand in 2012.
"Caroline Wozniacki is one of the reasons that we have got hold of Cristiano Ronaldo. He had seen how Caroline dared to be pictured in only her underwear that we had made for her, and he liked it. We had hoped to grab a market, but the impact of CR7 has been far, far greater than we dared dream of. So it is best for the company to stop working with Caroline Wozniacki," JBS director Morten Alstrup was quoted by Sports World News as saying.
LA Times explained that the line of the Real Madrid start which started in 2013 became very successful and more popular than that of Wozniacki that it now calls itself as "Denmark's largest and leading underwear manufacturer."
Wozniacki, who became a big hit in the tennis world after she became the world's No. 1 for 67 weeks and is now targeting to get her first Grand Slam title, will surely be shocked with this news though she has yet to release any reaction on the company's decision.
But this bump on her endorsement deal is possibly nothing, compared to the amount of pain she felt during her breakup with McIlroy. In an earlier Daily Mail report, Wozniacki admitted the difficulty she had to go through after their engagement was called off.
"I was shocked. I thought at least it would be face-to-face or something, but there was nothing. It was a phone call and I didn't hear from him again. It was very hard because he made it very public from the start. He put out a press release and all of that so it just got put in my face," she shared.
She, however said that she is now in a very happy place after that stage in her life and that she is now looking for possible dates.
“I would like a taller guy so I can wear high heels. I’m pretty strict with my box ticking. I look for someone who is honest, fun to be around and doesn’t take himself too seriously,” she said, as quoted by USA Today.
