'Peanuts' Movie News Updates & Trailer: New Teaser Released
Christmas holidays have just ended, but a new holiday cheer for the new year welcomes "Peanuts" fans as the new trailer for "The Peanuts Movie" has been released. Snoopy is flying over Paris - or at least, he thought he is. As it turns out, he's dreaming big again, and we couldn't blame him for that.
The 3D movie, which will be in theaters on November 6, is based on the iconic characters from Charles Schultz's popular comic strip. The rights to the film, according to Variety, was acquired by Fox back in 2012, from a script written by Craig and Bryan Schulz, the original creator's son and grandson, together with Cornelius Uliano, and will be helmed by "Ice Age: Continental Drift" director, Steve Martino.
The trailer opens with Woodstock (the bird, not the music festival) attempting to turn Snoopy's doghouse into an airplane from the first World War, and the lovable dog then flies high in the skies in his cute Flying Ace costume, over the Eiffel tower, as he pursues his arch-nemesis, the Red Baron.
Charlie Brown and the gang makes an appearance, albeit only cameos at the end of the trailer, and as usual, he's being laughed at for his clumsiness with popcorn.
Despite the cameo in the trailer, Film School Rejects think that Charlie Brown will have a bigger role in the full-length movie, probably with a soliloquy about Ebola or war or terrorism. Maybe all three.
Comic Book Resources noted that the second trailer is essentially similar to the one Fox released before the holidays, but without the Christmassy theme to it, like the Christmas lights that the first trailer showed.
Not that "Peanuts" ever runs out of holiday themes: they have had classic holiday specials that were staples in Holiday marathons, including "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas, the first one having won the Emmy's and is still one of the top-rated primetime specials on television, as noted by Coming Soon website.
Not much is known about the movie itself, but as Cinema Blend noted, what little we do know of the plot came from the official blurb, which read, "Snoopy, the world's most lovable beagle - and flying ace - embarks upon his greatest mission as he takes to the skies to pursue his arch-nemesis The Red Baron, while his best pal, Charlie Brown, begins his own epic quest."
Snoopy is undoubtedly dreaming big once again, but what do you think is Charlie Brown's quest in the film?
