Sony Xperia Z4 Release Date, Specs & Price: Device Out This Week? 24MP Camera Tipped
The much-awaited sequel to Sony's Xperia Z3 flagship could finally make an appearance this week, according to reports cited by Christian Today. This speculation coincides with our previous note, where the device has also been suggested to launch alongside Samsung's Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge, HTC's One M9, Xiaomi's Mi 5, LG's next G Flex and a Huawei product.
The devices are expected to take their wraps off at this year's International Consumer Electronics Show, happening on Jan. 6 - Jan. 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
What's worth expecting about Sony's Xperia Z4, anyway?
To begin with, one interesting spec surrounding the handset is its alleged camera resolution. In an earlier report, Android Origin predicted that the device will be upgrading Sony's IMX220 20.7MP sensor, the type which had been utilized since the Z1 model.
Citing information from Concept Phones, Christian Today noted that the Xperia Z4's main camera could pack either 22 or 24 MP -- a jump of at least 1.3 MP. The report went on to include Sony Lens G, 10x optical zoom and a Xenon flash as parts of its features.
Just recently, Trusted Reviews took note of Sony's announcement about "some new camera technology," which was believed to be part of the rumored Z4. As told by the outlet, a new camera sensor called IMX230 will be offering improved auto-focus technology and light management capabilities.
In terms of the display, the above source indicated that there were allegations of a 5.4-inch screen. This appears to be a downgrade from an earlier expectation dropped by Android Origin, which spoke of a 5.5-inch panel.
The Xperia Z3 arrived with a 5.2-inch display, housing a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. If current reports hold truth, we can still expect to see an upgrade in the Z4's visuals.
Sony's craftsmanship that makes use of "premium materials and hardware" has been cited by Android Pit, and this only suggests that the Xperia Z4 might retail expensively. The source is convinced that the upcoming model will be at least as powerful as its predecessor.
Other alleged specs of the Xperia Z4 include Quad-HD display (2560 x 1440 pixel resolution), Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor (octa-core 64-bit chipset), Adreno 430 GPU, 32 GB internal storage, 4 GB of RAM, LTE Cat.6 connectivity and Bluetooth 4.1, Android Origin listed.
The device has been suggested to run Android 5.0 Lollipop, said Trusted Reviews.
