Samsung Galaxy S5 Beats iPhone 6 & All Other Smartphones: Consumer Satisfaction Survey

By Staff| Jan 03, 2015

A recent customer satisfaction report revealed Samsung's Galaxy S5 as the best smartphone in the United States (2014). According to NDTV, Consumer Reports' data placed the trio of Galaxy S5 in the highest places of the list, knocking Apple's iPhone 6 and 6 Plus flagship below.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 Active rose above all the other smartphones with a score of 79, Phone Arena reported. The Galaxy S5 Sport and LG G3 trailed behind by just one point, scoring 78.

Falling at third place is the iPhone 6, receiving a score of 77. This spot is shared by the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy S4.

The LG G2 took the fourth rank with 76, while the HTC One M8, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge all scored 75, landing at the fifth highest spots.

As told by NDTV, the iPhone 6 Plus landed at the 15th spot, scoring 73. Other smartphones joining the list are the Windows Phone Samsung ATIV SE (73; rank 19), Motorola's second-generation Moto X (72; rank 20) and BlackBerry's Z10 (67; rank 37).

The highest-placing units got good scores for Ease of Use, Messaging, Web Browser and Display Quality, wrote Phone Arena. Accordingly, Consumer Reports cited Sony's Xperia Z3 (rank 12) as having the "best-in-class pictures," while the Motorola's DROID Turbo bagged acknowledgment for having "superb battery life."

Those looking forward to see the full ranking may have to wait until next month. According to India Today, the list will be published in Consumer Reports' February 2015 issue.

As we have previously reported, the Galaxy S5's first month of U.K. sales lagged behind the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c. However, at the time of reporting, Samsung's flagship is said to have a more favorable situation in the U.S. Today's recent list could be a testament to that success.

Meanwhile, the latest data from the American Consumer Satisfaction Index placed Samsung ahead of Apple too. According to Engadget, the survey questions 70,000 consumers annually, and Samsung beat the Cupertino giant with two points, scoring 81. This was a definite jump from last year's 76.

As the outlet put it, consumers might have been more intrigued with the Galaxy S5 compared to the iPhone 5s, which was Apple's flagship at the time of survey.
